Some players didn't do aswell as expected by some of us, however that maybe because the opponent just didn't let them. I was always in favor of Nerchio to win the title , he is a man on top of his game atm, so even against the great Thorzain I still pictured him favorite. But both Morrow (nice switch to terran) and Nerchio where verry well throughout the tournament. Grats to all and thank you TB and spouse - here's hoping for more of the same aesome SC2 tourneys

He may have his haters, but i cant see anyone disagreeing here when i say that what took place last night was an excellent show of giving to the scene without wanting anything in return.

For me, the player of the tournament was Whitera for his bizarre strat in his game 2 of Ro8, it didnt work at all, went completely horrible, but it was pure entertainment.

Did i mention the word "awesome"? I did. Awesome. If Morrow switches entirely to terran - i will cry. If he remains Z vs P and T, and plays T vs Z, i'm completely fine with that ![]()

Yesterday's SHOUTcraft Invitational went far better than I could have possibly hoped. Firstly I'd like to thank every one of you who tuned in and also supported future tournaments by not running adblocker/white-listing my channel. I have some good news. Initial estimates from Justin.tv reveal that the tournament raised over $1000 in ad revenue for the next one! That's money that will go into the hands of pros, on the day that they win it. In addition to what I usually earn from the ladder stream, that means it's very likely that the next tournament will 1) Have a prizepool of around $2000-$2500 2) Will pay EVERY pro something for participating, direct via Paypal on the day for playing their matchs. I am hoping more tournaments will follow suit by giving fairer prize distribution rather than winner-takes all and also promptly pay their pros. Anyone that has been on the receiving end of "regular" tournament payments knows that some are better than others, a lot better. It is important for our pro scene that pros actually be able to make a living or at least, enough to support only working part time, in order to reach the very highest levels of skill. The SHOUTcraft Invitational series aims to be the most pro-friendly tournament series there is. ****VoDs**** - I am hoping to have the first series up today and upload one series per day going forward. The VoDs will enjoy higher audio and visual fidelity than the stream since they were recorded seperately. They will be available on http://www.youtube.com/totalhalibut - There are uncut VoDs over on http://www.justin.tv/totalbiscuit ****Replays**** Will be released after Dreamhack. Since the pros do not want their builds over-analysed beforehand. *** ![]() ****The format**** So the tournament lasted 11 hours, which meant solo-casting for 11 hours. That's fine, np, but it was also a little annoying for the players to have to wait around. We had some scheduling clashes as a result of IGN games being played in the interim and a couple of lengthy delays as a result, admittedly none longer than about 20 minutes. I still believe that BO5s is the fairest way to sort out a single-elimination tournament and that BO3s are only suited to group-play in larger tournaments or leagues, so I don't see that changing. I am debating changing the format of future tournaments to 2-days, doing RO8 on Day 1 and RO4/Bronze/Finals on the next day. I think sticking to the 8-man format makes sense and it'll probably remain that way. I also don't intend to go back to replay-casting, the live nature of the tournament added to it. ****The Stats**** The tournament received over 100,000 unique views over the course of 11 hours. We peaked at around 22,000 concurrent viewers and after the first couple of hours, were hovering around 19-20k for the entire duration. The ads run during the tournament raised over $1,000 to add to the prizepool for the next one. The VoDs consist of 680gb of FRAPs video and 13GB of .Wav commentary audio uncut. ****The Future**** There's no question that these tournaments will continue at a rate of about 1 a month. We will go beyond inviting only Europeans and we have had interest from several, major parties already in the next event. The next event will be bolder and hopefully even more exciting. The next event will be co-cast, in-studio and I already have someone interested in doing that with me. Most of you can probably guess who. I'll also be getting a dedicated admin so that I don't have to admin everything myself during the tournament, which should decrease downtime. We'll also look to have higher fidelity overlays and visual trickery, plus a proper score-overlay. Most of the casting overlays don't seem to work unless you go fullscreen windowed and I play and cast in a window, not fullscreen. ****Thanks**** A few special mentions Intricacy aka The Missus - For organising the player invites, running commercials, updating thread and managing the marketing of the tournament Zooc - Our graphics designer, for creating the player introduction overlays, brackets and general art assets used in the tournament Brum - For creating the SHOUTcraft loop which is used in the stream and inbetween matchs and is also the prettiest damn stream overlay in the world Day9 and Husky - Who both plugged the tournament, thanks bros. The pros and their managers - Without whom this would not have been possible. A particular thanks to Mana who stepped into Hasuobs big German shoes after he had to pull out at the last minute and went on to display his incredible prowess. TTeSports - For providing a Mousepad signed by White-ra to giveaway to a lucky audience member. The viewers - Who support eSports simply by watching it. We'll see you in SHOUTcraft 2 : SHOUTcraftier
