Thanks for all the comments guys. <3
I'll make some slight changes to the explanation to the method, and that should clear things up some, although of course there will still be some disagreements, haha. I'm actually surprised it took something like 6 editions for people to state their disagreement. =P Also Frankton, I believe you're misunderstanding how the roundup works. It covers each event which concluded within the period, even if the entire tournament didn't occur within the period.

Naniwa 2nd Idra 3rd this should have been the real podium. This is how I feel and I'm not the only one. Anyway good job with this thread so far, keep up the good work.

Great writeup as always, a very useful feature of the site

i like these writeups. so you can see quite clearly who takes top places on the weekly tournaments and therefore see some development of new players like happy. i dont care so much on the order of the topdogs since they are pretty obvious but more on the notable player section.
keep the work up

Oh shit UBC (university of british columbia) takes first in the CSL, not a huge suprise though vancouver has around 12 or so players in the top 200 (at least) and a few of those guys go to ubc ^^
Stalife used to go there, i think hes taking the year off, and firezerg as well.
GO vancouver! :D

The RQTV Open #1 Finalist is Titan ... a protoss from Russia and not the US Zerg.

I will second this statement.
ot: Thanks once again, love these write-ups! <3

I love Thorzain and I agree with him being first in this ranking, but the hype is getting a bit absurd. His TvP is the best in the world because of 3 online games? I don't think so.

So helpful. Thanks so much for putting this together!

Damn there is some good money here

I really want to see Stephano in bigger tournaments than the weekly ones, he makes insane amounts of zerglings such that he can't 1a if he wanted to.

As to the controversy on the rankings, I vote to continue with subjective rankings. The overall quality of the write-ups has been great. The fact that you are reviewing all these tournaments and doing all of this writing has not only earned you the right to your opinion, but made me and probably others interested in what your opinion is. We already have ELO rankings for those who want a more objective system. And in the end, the best tournament performance over 1/2 a month doesn't really amount to all that much, given the wide variety in participation and formats over these tournaments. It is fun to talk about and argue a little, but there is no reason to get mean or make accusations over it.
Anyway you are doing a lot of work and doing a great job. Of course you will keep improving and making changes, but don't do anything drastic based on one week of comments.
|
Well, I don't really agree with the Naniwa/Idra ranking, but I very appreciate the effort put into this thread.
Personally, I hope to see fewer small tournaments where only the winner gets some prize money / show matches and more bigger cups which rewards players who place high. I think that will help esport to become bigger.

Always very happy to read these and glad that you're around to keep track of all these great tournaments. I'm not entirely sure why all these people are coming out now with their disagreements either. In fact I'm not really sure why people are questioning these methods. If people disagree then they should put in the same amount of work as you do to put up this great summary of events every two weeks.
Anyway, I don't want to get more into this. it's really not important enough to give attention. Keep up the good work! I like how you emphasize ThorZaIN going from the constant underdog to being the Top Dog.
