No mayor. The problem I have with a mayor is it encourages the town to act with as much secrecy as the mafia do (via the BG plan). I realize that my particular position was especially unlucky this game (green, fingered as a weak mafia on a fake list so the town AND mafia basically just ignored me) but it still seems to me like the town would have to be far more active in order to organize even the lynches each day. At the very least that should promote more activity and give the greens more to do. | ||

Also to the townies - even though Caller fucked up a bit, a lot of it wasn't his fault. Inactive players and some bad timing just got the better of what he was trying to accomplish along with Ver and Showtime! | ||

You were just so unlucky; your behavior indicated almost assured townie and you were on my trusted list for awhile but the shadowdrgn list + your list you sent me which cleared every person on the shadowdrgn list despite very bad reasons for a couple of them, making me accept the shadowdrgn list. imo low kill count + no mayor is best. And what's with people hating on Ace. Imo the only thing he should've done was restrict the game (but then I couldn't have played t.t). The game was ruined by inactives plus an adept irc user plus someone being really lame. The latter two are totally out of his hands, and open games can still work (and didn't *ruin* it anyway, just made it worse). | ||

I was sure that the zombie votes were mafia. I probably shouldn't have sent you the full spreadsheet, since I didn't have much to go on with about half the players. I figured I would just update as the game went on, but people stopped talking because they died the second they said anything. | ||

@ Ver: I suspected somebody knew it was suspicious that I replaced someone. Its because I originally signed up by pming Ace. So when he went through the thread he didn't find me...then when someone had to be replaced I guess I was put in. Before I was put in, Ace said it was ironic that I was chosen to be a mafia...so what MTF said. Anyway, I did send in a role to Caller (which I just claimed townie) because I didn't know if the person I was replacing said anything about his role. So I always thought someone thought I was mafia. Also I was the one who suggested dual mafias to Ace...so sorry if it didn't work out for the better. Possible Roles: Masons: A group of townies that know each other. (They're all innocent). They can have blue roles. Replaces mayor/bodyguard scheme. Mason Recruiter: A member of the Masons. Each night he can recruit one person to join the masons. ...think mafia infiltration... ^ variation: If a mafia is recruited all masons die. But I think infiltration is much more fun. Old woman/Paranoid gun owner: If anyone visits her (mafia, DT, doctors) they get are shot. Fool: The fool wins if he is lynched. <-- might not work when a lot of people are playing though. Post office man/Pigeon carrier: If the postman dies, he goes "postal" and gets to take someone with him. *edit: bold oh, and perhaps next time we can have a separate thread for signups and a separate thread for mayor elections (if we have them) because seriously like the first 40-50 pages (cant remember) are full of junk. Some of the mayor stuff is important, but most is not. | ||

The "Silencer" can 'silence' anyone each day (except whoever was silenced yesterday). The silenced individual wakes in the morning and is immediately instructed not to talk until the end of the day (They may vote and be executed though). The Silencer does not participate in the mafia killing, and the mafia do not know who their silencer is, but he is typically aligned with them and knows their identities. The Yakuza is a regular mafia player with an extra power: they may sacrifice themselves from the second night (during the night) and choose an innocent to join the mafia team I think either of these roles would be a fun addition, would require removing one or two of the current mafia roles though | ||

Perhaps yours could be applicable to either mafia or town though. Although I love the mason's idea, that's pretty pimp and a good replacement for the BG's although less powerful (they can't send everything to a mayor.) I've always liked a zombie role though, once he dies he can come back and eat people. Potentially killing 1 a night until he gets killed again (for good). He only wins if he lives as town and they win, but after he dies he has technically lost, except he gets to eat people which is a win in and of itself. Therefore, he could be a crazy wild card who gets to kill mafia or townies. Variations could be mafia zombies, zombie's disease spreading (too much like hooker) or triggering a tatical nuke from the government if he kills too many people (with a random amount of other townies getting caught in the crossfire.) Eh, I just like zombies. | ||

As for the zombies, nobody knows you're the zombie, right?Because otherwise it would be too easy for him to die again. Basically a zombie is assigned the zombie role and once dead could use his powers? Could be a mafia/blue/townie? | ||

How wrong I was  Yam, how did you guys know I was a Vet? I know how the Lucchese knew..... And yeah, I knew MTF was mafia from the get go. Maybe I shouldn't have gone as hard at him as I did, haha. Also, I don't think it's fair to call Caller dumb; a little overzealous, yes, but not dumb, lol. Lastly, modding a game is super fcking difficult, I know from experience, and I've never even ran a game half this size. Whatever you feel about ace, nothing is worse than a bunch of ingrates saying how much your game sucked. Think about it this way: a mod is the MOST active player in the game, dealing with EVERYONE'S roles from beginning to end. So for those of you talking about respect, learn some. If you don't like his game, don't play; seems simple enough to me. | ||

The roles get sent. Yay, I'm mafia! An agent of chaos too, cool. Maybe I should run for Mayor. I then PMed all the other mafia family members asking them stuff and giving them my msn/aim/icq and stuff, trying to get something organized. When they finally came online I decided that it was too late to run since a lot of votes had already been cast. I also didn't randomly vote for someone and that if I voted, it'd be an informed one so I wouldn't be flagged as a zombie. I then got the brilliant idea of claiming vigi. I'm a mafia anyway, so I can kill people he asks me to kill as long as they're not my own family, right?! So I send my vigi roleclaim to Caller, which asks me to hit Empyrean. I suddenly realize that when I hit Empyrean, it will say 'Cookie', and they'll realize I'm mafia. Oh shit. I panic, then decide that I could claim I hit but he was protected/a vet. Fishball told me on msn that wouldn't work, since those people would be informed by a PM. Back to oh shit! Fishball then calms me down saying that we can hit that person, and if he dies I can just claim that person died before I got to hit him. This would only not work if Caller asked me to hit someone of my own family. Day post 3 goes up. All vigilantes are killed. OH SHIT. It didn't matter here anymore anyway, since Caller got the full Lucchese family list by that time. Mafia communication in our family was quite bad. I tried to get it going the first few days and it went moderately well (had like 5 people in the convo), but after the first day there was no real communication and it was a free for all except apparently MrBabyHands, ShadowDrgn and Camlito which were the brain of our Mafia. | ||
