Important notes 23/08/16 - this game is [M][N], not [N][T]!
Introduction:
Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread may grow large quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play.
This game will include flavor that is added for fun and effect, but has no impact on game mechanics. The standard rule set for newbie games will be used and follows below.
Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players. Only you may post on your account. 11. Posting the link to any QT's you have.
If you feel that any action you are considering may be against the spirit of the game, it is best to contact a host and ensure it is allowed before proceeding.
Posting:
Host Color: The color blue is reserved for the hosts of the game to make our posts easy to notice. Please do not use it.
Question Color: The color green is reserved for questions by players for the hosts. Use it to ask the game hosts questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything.
Smurfs: Smurfs must PM the host because TL doesn't allow multiple accounts otherwise. If the host is unaware of smurfs, you (and/or your smurf) can be banned for having multiple accounts
Spam: Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. Do not discuss Proleague here. Do not talk about Starcraft II here. Play Mafia here.
Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. "Editing" includes indirect editing like linking an image, then editing the image. Editing your profile or signature are allowed, but if you edit them for any game-related reasons (ie, breadcrumbing, sending messages, etc) this will be considered out-of-thread posting and will be punished.
Inappropriate posts and use of the report post link: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL moderation staff or using the report post link. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
Out of thread communication:
It is common for mafia to use a medium outside of TL such as QuickTopics or IRC to communicate during the game. Players who have not explicitly been given permission to communicate outside the thread are not allowed to attempt to infiltrate such communication channels. Players who are not mafia are not allowed to communicate about this game outside of the thread.
Voting rules:
1. Voting is done by posting in the voting thread. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##vote: beentheredonethat. Votes must be in bold, and votes not written in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will tolerate missspelled names but don't be lazy. 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote only for other living players in the thread. You may not vote for yourself. 5. This game uses plurality voting, so whoever has the most votes at the end of the day is lynched. There is no minimum number of votes required to lynch someone. 6. The person who is up for the lynch is whoever has the most votes. If there is a tie for most votes, whoever most recently had more votes than the other is the person who is up for the lynch. 7. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain.
Signups
Everyone is eligible to play.
Signup for the game by posting /in in the thread. It may take several weeks for the game to fill up so you are responsible for being aware when the game begins. I will send PMs asking to confirm (/confirm) when the game is filled.
Game-specific rules:
Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. You can use this game to /sitout a ban.
As this is my very first time being a host, I will try to be lenient with ban list actions. However don't try to abuse that.
Replacements This game uses replacements. I will try to find replacements until the end of day 2.
Clues There are no clues. Not even if you use the Force.
PMs PMs and out of thread communication are not allowed in this game, unless your role explicitly allows them.
Activity You are expected to keep up with the thread and participate in discussion daily.
If for some reason you anticipate that you will not be available for a period longer than 24 hours, please notify a host ahead of time. If the host deems a player is inactive, they may be warned or removed from the game.
There is no mandatory number of posts to be seen as active. However as the game lives from activity (especially on the town side of things), please be as active as possible.
Time Cycle This game will follow a 48 hour day/24 hour night cycle. Any votes after the deadline will not count and the game will be put on hold until the night post is up. The deadline for each cycle will be 21:00 GMT (+00:00). See setup post for more information on that.
Please make sure you have read the rules and understand them.
This is a mafia game for 13 players. Three players will be randomly selected as mafia.
All power role assignments will be random.
The Rebel Alliance's win condition: The Rebel Alliance wins when all imperial infiltrators are eliminated.
The Galactic Empire's win condition: The Empire wins if the number of imperial infiltrators alive is equal or greater to the number of Rebel Alliance players alive or nothing can prevent this from happening.
When a player dies in the game, the player's alignment (that is, which team the player wins with), and role will be revealed. This reveal is guaranteed to be true.
This game uses a Semi-Open Setup. The list of possible roles will be revealed, but the number of each role will not. All roles aren't necessarily present. Multiple players may share the same role. The mafia will not be informed of the setup ahead of time. For this game, one of the following setups will be chosen:
#1 Cop, Medic vs. Godfather, Goon and Roleblocker
#2 Cop, Vigilante vs. Godfather, Goon and Roleblocker
#3 Cop, Veteran vs. Godfather, Goon and Roleblocker

Word came from the Rebel Alliance. Rumor has it that the Rebellion is setting up a mission to inflitrate the Empire. Some say that the Empire is building the ultimate weapon to finally end the foolish attempts to overthrow the Emperor while others dare to whisper that the Rebellion is gathering some brave hearts to find out what this ultimate weapon is all about. And indeed, it is a group of selfless, devoted pilots that have gathered on a planet in the outer rim, waiting for the rebel generals to arrive. But some reckless imperial spies have managed to inflitrate that group. Will the pilots be able to find and eliminate the spies before they can kill everyone and set up a trap for the rebel commanders?
You are one of the brave souls that signed up for a potential suicide mission. Whatever reasons you have, you strongly oppose the Empire and finally, you have an opportunity to do something. Great Fate Lies On The Shoulders Of The Small, they say, and while you don't have any special powers, you're still smart enough to find the spies. You'll do your best to get the bad guys hanging, and you're able to do so by voting each day for someone to hang.
Remember to vote, because if you don't, the fluff writer will eventually modkill you.
You are Jane Spacediver, a jedi knight known for extraordinary good looks, great brawns and well versed brains. You have managed to survive Order 66 back in the days by putting yourself into a Carbonite coffin. Years after the great fall of the Jedi, you have awakened, only to find out about the secret mission. Without revealing your identity to anyone, you have arrived on the planet and joined the promising group. Your only goal left in your life is to seek justice for the Galaxy, and you're ready to sacrifice yourself on the glourious mission that awaits you.
By using the Force, you can find out one player's identity each night.
You are BTDT-26, a droid. You have once been left as scrap on the planet and now that so many others have arrived, you feel determined to show everyone that you still have life in yourself. Since it was the Empire that left you on the planet (which broke your robot heart), you strongly sympathise with the rebel pilots.
Each night, your remaining battery allows you to heal one player.
Edmond Singleton, a mercenary (Vigilante (1 shot)) + Show Spoiler +
You are Edmond Singleton, a mercenary. When the Empire shot down your ship and killed your crew, you were the only survivor. You have lived on this huge pile of shit that others might call a planet for several years now, trying to survive cold nights and harsh days. Your gun has always been your best friend but now, all you have left is one single shot of concentrated laser. You'll be damned if that shot will not hit one of the imperial spies that have infiltrated the group.
Once in the game at night, you may kill any member of the group by using the last shot of your gun.
As a clone of Jango Fett, you have fought many battles for the Old Republic. When Order 66 appeared on your comlink's screen, you flipped off the Emperor and chose to leave the clone troops. Having lived a long life, you are now an old man, and you've run all out of money. You have seen what the Empire has become, you have seen what happened once the Jedi had been killed. You have decided to put your life on the line for the rebellion because what do you have to lose, anyways? Maybe you'll even get paid for it.
You never threw away your clone armour, and that armour enables you to survive one shot.
You are Dan Deathma, the leader of the imperial infiltrators. You've been an intelligence agent all your life and you're so good at hiding, not even your voice is giving away your identity. You have been trained by Lord Vader to withstand any influences of the Force and even the best Jedi will not be able to find out your real identity.
If a Jedi checks you during the night phase, they will perceive you as a rebel pilot.
You are Greedo, a bounty hunter that has been paid by the Empire to wait for the rebel generals and then kill them. You will do the best you can to hide but you're happy to kill anyone that works against the Empire. Just remember to shoot first.
You are Jill Murderous, an imperial agent that has been known to give everything to get the job done. You'll do whatever it takes to keep people occupied and since you're sexy as fuck, you do not need the Force to do so. Once you show off your beautiful body, even the toughest of the Jedi are not able to withstand your seductive skills.
Every night, you may or may not visit anyone of your choice and, let's say, persuade him to not do whatever he or she was up to do in that night. Your charme even works on droids, hellyeah.
Welcome! Just confirming with Blazinghand that there are no pending ban list actions on you (since you've been TL modbanned in the last game), then I'll add you to the player list.
/e: no pending actions, so I added you to the player list.

I'm so sorry! I did not at all follow The Clone Wars. I just google'd for "star wars old man" and that popped up. I'll make this easy and exchange the picture. However I will make up for the blunder by adding Cpt. Rex as a detailed power role in one of the (hopefully to come) follow up games I'll host that are Star Wars themed. Are you okay with that?

I would say that rex and his squad was one of few clones who was able to not be activated (basically a chip in their head is why they did 66) so therefore "flipping off the emperor" wouldn't happen but the pic is too good for me to be mad at.
