IE it's possible mafia is paired with mafia, or all mafia are paired with a townie, etc. That way if you lynch a mafia, it's not the right move to autolynch his partner since all partnerships are RNGed. You could also make the 3p more anti-town by giving it an SK-style KP (defeats all protection, forced to use it every night) and a traditional SK style wincon that would make the game more anti-swing (contrast Survivor, which makes the game more pro-swing). That being said, I still don't see any cause for a ban or violation of rules. The serious problems (forced mafia-mafia mason pairing, the wincons of the 3p) with this setup were all open and available. When you /ined, you knew that there would be a 3p which had a 33% chance of being pro-town and a 67% chance of being pro-swing, and that mafia would be in the bad position of having a guaranteed mason pair of mafia-mafia. Looks like HaruRH was hosting his first game or whatever and made some mistakes, but in terms of balance, everything that was unbalanced about this game was in the OP before the game started. Even if there were like, no blue roles at all, or just a Cop, or something, that wouldn't solve the balance problems. That's certainly no good, but it also means that everyone who /inned knew what they were getting into. You could argue that the implications of the setup are non-obvious to someone trying to analyze it without having the setup get played out by real players, so you couldn't have known it would be so bad; but HaruRH would probably respond by saying that the same is true for him. The OP stated that 3p won when the game was over. A lot of people, myself included, assumed that meant that that player could only win if he was the last player alive. The balance was simply awful. Which is forgivable in a first time host if that is the only mistake he makes. The problem was compounded by hosting decisions that were so out of left field that I was about to rage quit the game. The hosts shortened a day. The hosts joked about someone's flip before it happened. The hosts made vote counts which confirmed someone as scum. The hosts were not clear when writing the OP about power roles or their interactions. It took ~72 hours to get a response to my PM asking if we could use irc with our partners (which we could. Making the game even more town favoured). And the hosts missed a deadline entirely. That game was more poorly balanced than a MS newbie game and more poorly hosted than anything be ever seen. While I have no desire to see bans for these players I do believe that this game should stand as a testament to how necessary the balance team is and how important it is for hosts to actively work to have the least impact possible on their game.

Either they did not read the setup or failed to comprehend how truly imbalanced it was. Both offenses are clearly playing against their win condition and should be dealt with severely. Hosting stuff should go in the active game thread or be PMed to foolishness.

Hosts giving away scumteams. Hosts making mistakes sending the roles. Hosts quickening deadlines 15 minutes, 30 minutes before deadline. This one is pretty specific but happened 3 times already give or take some minutes. Hosts inventing retarded game set ups. Hosts making imbalanced set-ups. aka +75% for a team to win from the start. rng on roles somewhat counted in. Hosts not enforcing their own rules. Start temp banning these people. And put people on balance that actually care and have a brain. If you want an example for a game I can give you one for any example. I can also do combined ones.

Go to Smashboards Koshi they are very uptight in general and the host just checks out Midgame every once in a while Or OMGUS where I blatantly stated in the OP that it was a bastard game yet nobody won Or hang here where there is always someone unhappy with what is happening causing our whole structure to change until folks just up and... ...disappear Only to return in short order. Yes the game was pretty much auto-win for the town for anyone with any patience and time to use for the game. That has nothing to do with any host "fuck-ups". You should have said so before the game in case you do not like it. Got nothing to say about other stuff regarding the hosts / game but just do not flame the setup you KNEW and did nothing about it (and apparently still played lol).
