Also I do not like the plan to all attack with everything. I may decide to block no matter what you decide to do, although I will probably be attacking someone I find scummy.
For turn 2, that is.

We have 9 players on the board... We set up groups of 3 that can only play against each other... It allows for 3rd person observation of players and increases accountability amongst the thread

1v1v1s would make us too vulnerable. Mafia only has to win one, by the time they're all over the mafia monster will be too strong to beat in a 2v1 IMO. They could also use the monster to give them an advantage in the 1v1v1s, or to incriminate townies in them - I think mafia would have a better than random chance of winning one and we would be stuck wifoming why they used the monster in whichever 1v1v1 they chose. Terrible idea IMO.

Maybe if we stopped the 1v1v1 after one or two turns, but I like my "everyone attack with everything" plan a lot better.

Interesting idea as then there is a high chance of mafia being eliminated quickly as well, but I dont like that cause 1. I will kill scum/scummy dudes even if I'm in this little group and 2. I'll get stuck with greymist cause I have shitty luck

How about a "everybody NOT instantly attack everybody, but does what they think is best" plan instead?
If we do the "everybody attack everybody" you can rush things.Townies without concrete reads may do mistakes and just attack the easy target, and then be accused of being scum later once the easy target flips town (for instance).

Forcing everybody to attack is like telling everybody "People vote for the person you think is scum RIGHT NOW!!" in a normal game....you are forcing people to make mistakes (and you don't do that in normal games either).


Also, Mattchew, what are your reads? S&B, what do you think of Greymist?

Yeah, the 1v1v1 limits our capabilities and may give mafia an advantage.

How do you pair players? You don't know their decks (except Greymist...although I don't know what a "Sliver" is), so what if you pair a very strong deck against a very weak one? What happens then? What if the weak deck figures out the strong deck is mafia, but can't beat him? ....does everybody just stay silent and watch the strong deck annihilate the weak one?

What if everybody in that 1v1v1 figures each other are town? Do they just stay quiet and not do anything at all?

I'm response to "what do you think of greymist": so far they have been wrong about both of the things they've commented on - my plan and their overall outlook on the game.

Not sure if scum but definitely not bringing town in the right direction.

I really hope you're not trying to ask me about his response to the nonsensical "pressure" about that "I don't like this card" comment because that pressure didn't make sense.

Currently I have very little in terms of alignments because of the amount of conversation about the magic playing... I think this is extremely easy to fake as scum and therefore everyone kinda looks the same to me... I think the magic playing behavioral analysis will be much more telling this game then the conversations taking place currently

If we just play this game by attacking who we think is scum through in game communication, then we will have a much better chance of winning. Attacks will mean a lot more in that case and show even more info. Not attacking gives just as much info as attacking s&b

I strongly disagree. Not attacking means the majority of people will just say "I don't have strong scumreads yet and I don't want to take damage." It's what happens all the time in both mafia games and in magic games with lots of players. We don't learn anything from people not attacking because they could either be lurky scum who don't want to take stands, or they could just be townies who are kind of confused by the format. We need to force people to actually DO something.

I really don't understand what the reasoning is against this. There are no votes in this game, so getting people to commit to affirmative actions is the only way we're going to get anything to analyze.

And if someone just says "well I was supposed to attack someone" without saying why they chose that person, we will call that scummy because it will be. People need to justify their actions.

The other reason is that we don't want blocking. Blocking doesn't give us information and it causes the creatures to do damage to each other, which could reduce town power more than it reduces scum power.

No, thats forcing people to make early reads when they dont feel they should, and has a high chance of failure. You cant expect anyone to attack anyone else unless they have a read they want to, and if they dont they arent scum because of it

Sry for disappearing guys. My internet was blocked because I was above 30GB / month this month... stupid EuroCup and it's stupid HD-streams

Anyways I could have used a uni-proxy for http:// stuff only but would have died of boredom this week. So here's the thing:
I have to catch up on what happened the last 24 hours, I have to post my game I'm about to host and I have to buy some food or I'm going to starve. I'm starting with the food thingie right now but wanted to give you that update, especially to marv as well because he hasn't seen me for 24 hours now and might be wondering what's going on, so instead of 2 posts I am doing just one for everyone lol.

If you have something really important that I need to read RIGHT NOW make a post with a "Toad" in it and make sure it has at least one [b] and [big] tag around it so I see it as something important. Other than that not much to say right now. I tapped both my lands anyways, my creature has no haste and I can't do anything this cycle anyways, so I don't see a reason to rush for me here. If you do see a reason, tell me as just mentioned and I'll work things out and stop doing other things for a while but I just arrived at my parents place and need a rest and something to eat right now :p
