Because, frankly, I expect other people who are more experienced to be better at this than I am. And because the mafia get their kill no matter what, so time is a wasting. And so, if I'm not actually _against_ a certain person being lynched, and six of my other townmates have been convinced, I'm going to trust in their collective judgement.

I don't understand this perspective. If you have an opinion, you fight for it. If you think someones a townie, then you say so. If you think someones scum, then you try lynch them. But you don't do either, you'll lynch who other people think is scum, even if you don't think so? You're disregarding yourself as a role in town, which makes me think you aren't town.
|
If someone is null to me, I have no opinion to fight for. As I see it, trying to kill scum based on a near majority of others' reads is vastly more helpful to the town than dithering around no-lynching making it that much harder for the town to do anything by my mere presence raising the majority number.
|
So you're saying you have no opinions? Bullshit. You still have time to push an opinion and you have had time. But from the very beginning you said you essentially won't have opinions and will just bandwagon, which is scummy as well. You're resisting pushing opinions and thoughts because you're afraid it'll reveal you to be scum more, or because you just want to take the easy route to kill town. Either way, you're scum.

Because your main defense is that you don't have faith in your scumhunting abilities and would rather lynch according to the majority....but your vote is on Snarfs, someone who no one has really mentioned as a lynch candidate to begin with. What happened to voting with the "confirmed townie" Sandroba? Wasn't that your plan for town success earlier? Why the sudden desire to lynch a lurker instead?
|
I am fighting the irrational temptation to conclude you must be scum johnny, just because you are pushing this so hard and with such poor comprehension. :-)
I have opinions. I have listed 3 people that I feel are scummy, and why, and I've voted for one of them. I'm happy to switch my vote to either of the other two. For instance, Sloosh is getting a similar read as me on T_I_P_D. I'd be happy to vote there instead.
If -- and only if -- the people I feel are scummy aren't going to get enough votes, then yes, I'm willing to see you die. Because I just can't tell with you. But if enough others _are_ able to tell, I'll string you up and feel very town patriotic while doing it.

you listed 3 lurkers not 3 people you feel are scummy..
And you haven't given me a reason to think you aren't scum.

Because I stepped in it, and you all made it perfectly clear that my "rah rah! go majority!" strategy was a bad one. Which forced me to get off my ass and start scumhunting, as I was asked to do, rather than going with "let's make it through day 1 and see what happens", which was my utter fail of an initial thought process.
In general, I'd still be willing to vote with the very likely townie Sandroba, except that in this particular case it doesn't look like there's support for lynching his current choice, and also because I had earlier missed the comments regarding Jackal usually lurking day 1, which has changed my read on him. I'd probably still include Jackal on my "mostly null, willing to vote on if others are" list, it just seems like there aren't others who will be voting that way.

Well, how about this then?
##Unvote: Tobon ##Vote: Jackal58
That do anything for ya?

if you were scum-hunting then why was your pick seemingly random, without a case? explain your pick of snarfs, beside him being inactive.

(and with that, I'm out for the night -- back in 9-ish hours to check in)

this is not the time for you to leave, eyes are on you and you're ditching. of course, it can be unavoidable to leave, but this just makes me suspect you more.

Yeah, Jackal can keep my vote while I sleep at least. Jackal, aside from randomly calling my posts scummy with no reasoning behind it, you've contributed nothing to the thread...literally. Come give me a reason to keep you around BESIDES your razor-sharp wit (which is almost enough on it's own...almost.)

My town reads atm are
VE - Contributing lots, active and pushing discusson sandro & jcarl - mason layabout - ofc what the hell is with me
I'm not sure of Probulous but I think a DT should check him I think,
Scummy in my opinion reads:
Tobon - Look at his filter, he took easy potshots at the lurkers, ezpz way for reasonning as to reads and avoiding attention, oh and planning to sheep =_=.
On the lurkers, I think we should keep on the pressure, I'm waiting on Jackal cause I never get a correct read on him(except in purgatory mafia mwahahahhaha) I'm gonna read up some past games of him as town and scum to compare, for reference to anyone that is going to compare Mafia, I will use MLP Mafia for his town games and TL Mafia XLVIII as for his scum games. I'm gonna talk about this with my other part as soon as I can.
I'm gonna vote Tobon for now, I'm willing to switch to another person if a better on arises but for now, my eyes are on Tobon.
##Vote: Tobon

Also, just adding to the other post,
"I think that the DT should check him, IF we have one"

Y'know, jdubs, I'm starting to like you.
##unvote
Not saying you're out of the water, but right now, I'm starting to get a townier feel on you.
Tobon, on the other hand, definitely is feeling scummier and scummier with each post. He's floundering now that he's starting to be called out.

A beautiful OMGUS right here.
I don't understand the snarfs vote from him. He "explains" it, but there's still no real substance behind it.
We need Jackal to post, I don't think he normally lurks this hard, even Day 1.
I'm also going to take a look into VE.

These are not necessarily town qualities at all. He took the lead early on and is driving discussion, this is true. Scum are very capable of doing so, and we can't just blindly let his word dictate things (as I have also been guilty of). I'll be rereading some things between classes over the next couple hours.

jcarl, about your statement on Jackal I think he justs lurk his heart out day 1 =_=, just take a look at the latest Mr.Wiggles Mini, he had like 3 posts d1 but he did post more AFTER it ==".
Since your here, I'd like to give you this question, What do you think about lurking? Is it a Scummy or Towny trait? I feel that lurking IS both a scummy & towny trait, Scummy because scum avoid contributing, but also towny because most newbie townies tend to lurk, but there is that exception for those who are known to do that ==".
as for your comments on VE, I think that if townies don't sheep, we can avoid what you said.

Pardon my absence. My power is out at home. I'm at work now and will attempt to get caught up to speed after I get my morning sorted out.

Lurking is almost always a scummy trait. It hides information from the town. Yes, newbie townies may tend to lurk, but I remember in my first few games, even though I didn't really know what I was doing, I tried to contribute.
The thing is, from the start, the scum team has a huge information advantage on town. In order to try to alleviate that, it's necessary to have discussion so that the town can piece things together.
The only game that I actually lurked in was my one game as scum (Team Fortress). I have always hated lurking, and am vocal about that. This got me caught. Hypocrisy is a very powerful tool to use against scum.
And yes, sheeping is dangerous for the town (Tobon). Everyone needs to have their own thoughts, and those who will just follow an easy bandwagon are likely scum.

Sorry guys don't have much time right now, I have to get to class.
I still think VE is scum though, LYNCH LYNCH LYNCH.
I'll hopefully make it back before the lynch and read up on things.
