I'm comfortable with RoL for the time being... at least, more comfortable than I am with anyone else except Dr H, and he's thrown support behind RoL.
It's no offense to Kav or kitaman, I just don't know their playstyles as well.

Nobody should be volunteering yet, I don't think volunteering is a good strategy. If we volunteer greens, it lowers the number of people in the pool of potential blues, so mafia can easily bluesnipe. If we volunteer blues, it's basically saying "HEY MAFIA FREE BLUES GO GO GO"
Blues' greatest asset is their anonymity and the ability to hide amongst the greens, and we want to preserve that as long as possible.

I see, that makes sense.

Lol I don't think volunteering bodyguards based upon roles is a smart idea... IMO there is no real formula or requirement for who should be bodyguards.
I think the idea of picking people and saying "well we need to protect these guys now" is bad as it's isolating the other 20+ people who could potentially be targets, because lets face it, mafia isn't going to stack kills to get at the mayor in the first 2 nights. Aside from the easy time it will be for townies to analyze players who discount the importance of bodyguards and the mayors role if the above plan was proposed, we are creating a narrow window of playstyle from the town that will end up costing us more hits at night than we want. IE- Risk is not worth the reward in this scenario.
The mayoral candidates should also not consider the bodyguards as throwaway individuals. The candidates need to get their thinking caps on and pick players who are "almost targets." These would be the players that mafia _could_ target on night one. This could be because of posting habits. It could be because of personal "hatred" towards other players. It could be because killing these people will incite blame in someone else.
You also have to think about the clues. Everyone's profile is full of information, so certain kills could be skewed towards a certain player. Players who could be implicated on some "rough around the edges clues" are going to stay around longer. They might be good bodyguard targets. How will the candidates decide this? Take a few minutes to look at the profiles of EVERY player and see what connections can be made. If you can find similarities in profile content between a few players then you should note it and possibly use them as your bodyguards. Then again I don't know how mafia is going to treat the breadcrumb trail of clues so this could just be speculation.
This type of discussion should be reserved until day 2, but if I was running I would consider picking people who would be less likely night 1 targets (for example: RoL shouldn't pick DrH and vice-versa).

So, perhaps I'm naive to have tried this, but my support for BG volunteering was based off the fact that Vet's should KNOW that they should reveal themselves, and townies should also understand this. Thus, when the volunteers are asked for, they will more likely be townies. The mafia would also know that there is a strong likely hood that they are townies, not Vets, but they would not risk wasting KP on them. This would both protect the BG's who are not Vets and put the real vets in a position that is more likely to be hit.

I highly recommend everyone set up a spreadsheet now, with the following:
Each player in the game What role they've soft/hardclaimed (includes mayor/bodyguard) Profile picture Public Profile Quote/Signature Random notes about them Links to important posts theyve made. (i.e. contradictions, good analysis, etc.)
If you start cataloguing this now, it gets a lot easier, and it really helps you analyze people later in the game. Also, it's a good habit to get into, for any mafia game, if you want to improve. You WILL catch shit you might have missed otherwise.

Thanks That should help a ton.

Ouch How many replacements do we need?

Pandain and DoctorH have asked to be replaced.
Don't worry, there won't be modkills this game. Edit: Hopefully

To answer what you said amber, the reason I responded about my playstyle was to save drh the time of reading about what I do as mafia. I don't think I spent too much time discrediting him, all I really said was he could be a really dangerous mayor, especially if hes mafia.
And I didn't see the day 1 lynch thing in the OP.

You realize that whole stance is a big wifom type of thing right. I suppose making the mafia more uncomfortable is always a better idea. But the chance will ALWAYS exist that the BGs could be vets because nothing is really confirmed for anyone, especially in this snazzy set up. So claiming or not, or saying things or not doesnt really make much of a difference if all you're aiming for is some kind of mind game. Because in that sense those things already exist

d3_crescentia will be replacing Pandain. Deconduo will be replacing DoctorHelvetica
Everyone say HI D3! and HI Deconduo!

It's a shame. My profile is obviously superior.

Looks like DocH dropped out?
I guess that my vote will be going to KavDragon since I agree with most of his points. Except for choosing Volunteered BGs because that just allows Mafia to pick them off for free since which was stated post before this.
Let's talk about the lynch for this day. I read that if we vote for KavDragon that he would lynch OriginalName since his prof. looks like the best relation to the clues. I support this he has been inactive and also looks like a smurf cause when he joined it seemed that he played a game before but only had 60-70 posts.

Hi d3! Hi Deconduo!
So will DocH and Pandain's profiles be used throughout the whole game, or just for today?
