Should save the name then and use it for a not-normal game then. Bloody waste of the Pokemon name!

i thought about it and maybe adding some weird mechanics with pokeballs or something but meh

as a writer i really just like using themes for flavor anyway

Regardless, save it for something actually mechanical then otherwise it's just adding names to the same roles and wasting a [potentially] very good idea aughhh.

maybe i can use the mario theme instead? i didn't think of too many great mechanical ideas for that and I can just as easily give names for the roles.

What, Charmander evolves into Charzard and is able to leave the town for a night and kill a section of the town with fire?

Mario theme must have mushrooms and other similar items.

hm evolution could be interesting

like have a weak DT start out as a reporter (knows only if someone had a night action or not), then tracker, then DT

Abra -> Kadabra -> Alakazam

Charmeleon first, actually.

Honestly if you're going to run a normal game it's easiest just to use normal names for normal roles. Since I'm the type of person that likes everything neat and filed, it's so much easier for me to see "TL Mafia XXXVI" than "Pokemafia" when the games are the same except for name differences. It makes it easier to categorize games by chronological history, which, say, could make it easier for Foolishness (or whomever) to go through when he's doing his point system.

Actually, I would support all [normal] games being given a number at least. If you really, really want the "flavor" name to stay, you can keep it in there, but at least call it "TL Mafia XXXVI: Pokemafia" or something.

Though I still just prefer pure number.

Another thing about introducing flavour into normal game, I think, is the irregularity of role names. I am guessing you are going to give different players different pokemon names, and if so - even if the ability of the role themselves may be normal - you can be assured they will be mass nameclaim demand and bs flavour speculation based on them.

Pokemafia, like all normal games, will have a semi-open setup. So no, nameclaiming, will not be an issue. Because nameclaiming = roleclaiming.

Oh yes, and TL Mafia XXXIV shall be run as a boot camp game. DoctorHelvetica, if you have your Pokemafia game ready and done then my game shall become "TL Mafia XXXV", though I really have a pressing urge to redirect the flow of normal games.

Okay, checked the normal and theme game definitions. Thanks.

I'm going to have to agree with this one. It'll make things easier if everyone knows that "TL Mafia *insert Roman numeral here*" means a normal game. But as DrH said, to make flavor writing easier, a title such as TL Mafia XXVI: Pokemafia is good to me. If someone else wants to make an actual themed game with Pokemon they can go ahead separately.

TL Mafia: XXXVI: Pokemafia is fine as a title

But I can sit on it and host a normal and flavorless game instead, if people would prefer that. Or i can just wait for flamewheels normal bootcamp game and then work on making pokemafia more "themed"

but I really like normal games at heart

Nah just go ahead and host it, you're already in line. Besides I made you wait on the mini mafia for Hesmyrr, so I feel bad =P

I don't have a problem with:

TL Mafia (Insert Roman Numeral Here): (Insert Game Flavor Here)

Its been pretty standard throughout TL mafia history up until the recent influx of themed games. In fact, not numbering games has made it harder for me to keep the games straight in my mind in terms of chronological order as well as what happened in each game.

HP mafia at 23/41
Pokemafia at 12/31
commimafia at 5/14

we need a higher player/game ratio, especially with so many people bailing due to holidays and what not.
