So if I understand this lover/sibling mechanic right, we have a group of players, not necessarily mafia, who will always try to swing votes away from each others? But they do not know if each others are town or mafia? Will make it harder to interpret vote swings >_<

I think this acted as a conversion role. "born anew" implies a change in roles from one alignment to other, and since there is no third party and I doubt a mafia got converted by a townie, I think it means one of the mafia just recruited a townie against us. The way the town/mafia ratio is set up it doesn't give us initial start counts or anything, just tells us how much mafia there are in the game, assuming the conversion can't fail then it would be three regardless. I imagine the mafia can choose as to when they do it and the person they choose retains their power this would give the mafia incentive to WAIT on the conversation, but then it might be OP, so there might only be a certain amount of time they can wait for the conversion, but its mere speculation.

...

So to summarize, I think there is a mafia conversion power in the lover, judging by how it was used. A Vigi variant in the hooded man, and a possession power in the spirit role.
a few times, and I really don’t understand how to interpret the “with the power of love” part of the clue. Care to explain? I agree with the rest of the role assesments.

What's everyones thoughts on beggar? Some sort of information role?

I’m going to vote for Aidnai for now, his post does seem to paddle through the same sentences a few times on a closer look.

I believe the "with the power of love" part is just referencing back to the lovers to apply a connection. Just like how it said a hooded man found an axe. Its so hes not saying completely random things and gives us a chance to kind of form ideas.

I was also kind thinking that the conversion process might even be taking someone and turning them into a traitor variation where the mafia knows who but just like the normal lover role they are linked? This would give the mafia more power in a majority lynch game at least until one of the two lovers dies.

I am very interested why pandain hasn't posted, normally he's so eager!

I think why everyone is saying about the ghost is probably true. It make sense that a power will be activated upon death. Thing is, would this be town or mafia power?

I'm hoping what someone said about the hooded figure being a mason is true, that would be interesting, and the clues make sense. I'm not sure if the clues were meant to lead us to mason, and instead it could just be Mafia KP.

No idea what to make of the lover born anew.

Pandain's last post in the Salem maf was at 05.10, about an hour before this game started. So I assume he just hasn't been around for whatever reason.

Hah I got this picture in my head of "mafia" being "lovers", converting others to their side... and one of them is even pregnant with a baby spirit mafia!

But yeah

About the "love" part, my guess is that it implies some sort of symbiosis with the other "lover"; perhaps this manifests itself in the form of being able to PM each other? The Doc did say that certain roles would be able to engage in private messaging.

As for beggar, I'm at a loss as well. You're probably correct in thinking it's an information role, but I wouldn't be able to guess much more than that.

RoL's analysis of Aidnai seems convincing enough. For now, my vote will stay on him, but as usual, this vote is still tentative.

As regards the lovers thing, its possible that someone got the role of a 'lover' They then picked someone to 'love' who was born anew. The power is that they can communicate with each other through PM, and if one dies so does the other. The person they picked might be anything, maf or townie.

This is just a theory based on how the lovers role works in general games.

Not too sure yet, still a lot of stuff going around and I don't want to place a vote just yet.

The 'Town Drunk' is also another name for a roleblocker, he visits someone during the night and gets drunk with them, preventing them from taking any night actions. Its another possibility.

Now this is interesting.

The "two men" part clearly means there are two players that this refers to. Having a "third eye" is often meant to imply some sort of extrasensory perception, a method of seeing past what normal people are capable of. In the case of Mafia, I would think the Third Eye allows the player to see the true alignment of a player.

One Eye lies, one tells the truth. Perhaps this means that one of the Third Eyes is sane, and the other is insane.

Of course, I doubt that in a game as crazy as the Doc wants it to be, there would be two roles that are identical in function and opposite in results. These "Third Eye" people must have some sort of difference in their roles besides the obvious "liar / truth-teller" dichotomy.

Not necessarily. They could be exactly the same role, and one of them is sane, while the other is insane, but neither of them knows which one they are. This will cause a lot of mind grapes.

I'm aware that that possibly exists, but from what I know of the Doc's intentions here, he wants this whole GAME to be a mindfuck in terms of roles. Insane Mafia didn't have exact repeats of roles, and the Doc himself compared that game's intent to this one, so I don't feel like he'd dull the variety by inserting two near-identical roles when he could have two roles that are similar, but have subtle differences aside from the insanity factor.

I dont think so. The idea of two detectives, one sane one insane seems pretty reasonable in this sort of setup.

I’m starting to think that the man in the black hood is mafia aligned. It doesn’t make sense in a chaotic mafia to have mafia without any special powers. We have clues on 5 players in the initial post, and the relationship between mafia and town is 1 to 5. This leads me to believe we got 4 town clues and 1 mafia clue straight off the bat, and my guess is the hooded figure is the bad one. The fact he is pulling out an axe makes me scared to write this :-(.

On Aidnai, this might be mafia slip-ups:

Someone has a spirit inside them waiting to come out. (1)

Somebody fell in love.
Somebody has been born anew with the power of love. (2, maybe 3)

A child is playing in the yard. (4)

A man with a black hood stands in an alley.
The man in the black hood found his axe. (5)

Someone just got a pharmacology degree from Liquidia University.
Another student got his Pharmocology degree. (6,7)

A man begs in the street. (8)

Two men with a third eye, one tells the truth and the other lies (9,10)

10 role clues given so far. That leaves 2 more if only town clues are given, 5 more otherwise.

You forget that
Somebody has been born anew with the power of love.
Another student got his Pharmocology degree.

was posted at the same time and could be related. Say 1 person "fell in love", and decided to fall in love with person 2, who was our Pharmocology student. By choosing person 2, person love gained his power of pharmocology.

That's possible. I'm not sure he would give someone two roles though? Not sure.
