Bill Murray is one of the most active and dedicated mafia players this site has ever had. That being said, he has a long history of problems on this site, including flaming, spamming, and harassment during and outside of mafia games.

Another thing I should mention is that the people hosting/moderating the mafia games have agreed to a ban list where we ban players from future games based upon inactivity or inappropriate behavior.

Bill Murray's misbehavior started in his first game, Incognito and dreamflower's Mafia XVI where he posted the result of an ability his role had (a rolecheck) after he died (posting game-altering information like this after your character is dead is considered cheating). He probably should have gotten a ban for that, but that was before the ban list was really very established, so he got off with a warning. He made a pretty malicious post towards DoctorHelvetica after death in that game as well. Finally, I found out later that he leaked DoctorHelvetica's role to the rest of the game but edited that out.


After that game, he started playing in games with the rest of TL and got in a lot of flamewars with other users. He received a lot of warnings for this, but he stopped when asked and was never banned. He also received a LOT of warnings for spamming the thread, but we still don't really ban for this because it creates a line-drawing problem I don't want to think about.

In Pick Your Power Mafia, he revealed after death that he had chosen not to use his role the night he died. He received a ban (after an extended argument about it) because it revealed to the town that a specific role was not in the game (so this post was again cheating). He argued at length in the Ban List that his ban was not justified and threatened to stop playing if he was banned. However, eventually he served out his ban and continued to play.

He even hosted a few games, but he did not moderate them very well and a lot of people refuse to play in games he hosts because of some of the moderation decisions he made.

Anyways, he continued to play on the site and improved a little bit as far as flaming goes, but he would still get himself warned about it every now and then. Then he got himself modkilled in Haunted Mafia for harassing another player through PMs, flaming other players, and spamming the thread. After he was modkilled, he continued to post in the game thread after being told to stop by the host, DoctorHelvetica. He also insulted the host (which is considered completely out of bounds - if someone is yelling at the host during the game, they are facing serious ban time).

Eventually, DoctorHelvetica sent a PM to Plexa asking him to deal with the situation because Bill Murray was completely out of control. After he sent the request, Bill Murray finally calmed down and apologized in the thread. However, Plexa still banned him from the site for a few days and took away his access to the Mafia Forum.

This was early October 2010. Anyways, in early January, he PMed me asking to play again (he had a smurf account, gryffindor, which still had Mafia Forum access even though his primary account did not). We agreed in the Ban List that he would be allowed to play again on a smurf account as long as he got the permission from the host of the game first. He was supposed to be kept on a very short leash. And if he were ever banned again for any reason, we didn't want to play with him again.

In his first game back, he was well mannered and I didn't see any complaints about him. However, his second game back, Mafia XXXVII, has been nothing short of a nightmare. Early in the game, the host, RebirthOfLegend PMed me because he was getting annoyed at how much Bill Murray was spamming (spamming is detrimental to the game because it makes the players lose focus in the game due to the spam and intimidates people out of playing because the thread becomes super long). Below is the PM series RoL sent me as well as a complaint sent to him by a player (Ver)





However, like the PMs show, RoL was pretty careful with his temper and tried to be tolerant. He checked with either me or his cohost Meapak_Ziphh before doing anything.
He wound up warning Bill Murray and let the game continue. He warned Bill Murray a second time after Bill Murray posted 6 posts in a row, 5 within the span of 15 minutes.

He was also warned for misrepresenting that a host told him something about a strategy he was using in the game. (Remember that hosts are supposed to be impartial, so this chips at the credibility of the host.)



Then he started getting in flamewars with people. Now the other people involved were probably worse than he was, but they weren't on probation and he was. The following is an example:
