It’s time to extend our gold lead. We’re proud to announce that FTX is the Official Cryptocurrency Exchange of the LCS. Our seven-year partnership with FTX represents the largest sponsorship agreement Riot has ever signed for an esports league.
Starting this weekend, fans will notice FTX branding on the LCS broadcast around the most valuable currency in League of Legends: Gold. Player net worth, total team gold and those rollercoaster gold graphs will all be presented by FTX. Additionally, FTX will directly sponsor the LCS Most Improved Player Award, to be voted on by a cross-section of Rioters, media and team representatives. https://lolesports.com/article/lcs-creates-a-gold-advantage-with-ftx/blt54c2964ee439f1a7
It's a little strange that a new company from a niche with the average life expectancy of a fruit fly makes 7 and 10 year sponsorship deals but oh well.
So now we have FTX gold advantage, I wonder how much further Riot can monetize elements of the broadcast. Lockheed Martin raptor camp? Cornetto blast cone? Deadliest Catch scuttle crab? So much adspace left
|
I wonder if that means they'll put pressure on TSM to brand their League and Valorant teams TSM FTX now.
Also, FTX has insane amount of cash.

Don't forget lane melee minion 1, 2 and 3; caster minion 1, 2 and 3 and the occasional cannon minion. There's also the circumstantial super minion, every jungle monster and the brushes. So we've got something like Chipotle melees and KFC casters and the McDo Cannon (Mac Cannon burger anyone??), the MONSTER ENERGY Gromp and scenarios where people set up traps in the Quechua bush.

The TSM deal has already happened though.

Sorry I should have been more clear, it was rejected from the LCS broadcast. Hence why they're TSM not TSM FTX. Now how Dig managed to get their company I don't understand

I believe it broke down to an exchange can be considered gambling and gambling isn't something Riot wants promoted on their broadcast, at the time, so TSM was able to negotiation the exemption with FTX for Riot's games.

Ahh that makes sense.

TL vs C9 playoffs: even though it's a stomp, I'm actually extremely impressed with TLs rotational play. Feels like they've taken a page from the LPL playbook or something.
|
I am a TL homer, and I was thnking TL might be able to sneak out a win. Turns out they were way way better. The closest game was the won they lost, it really seemed like they won every lane match up and as you say also out macro'd and team play.
|
This definitely looked like the TL we've been promised to get since they picked up Santorin/Alphari. C9 going full "No Sneaky, No Worlds" two years in a row would be colossally embarrassing, and considering they'll have to play the loser of 100T/EG its within the realm of possibility.
I should say I ASSUME C9 is playing the loser of 100T/EG, I can't imagine the LCS fucking up the format so badly that they'd play the loser of the TSM/TL match

Ahh that makes sense. Did a little more reading. TSM FTX wouldn't have been a problem in NA, but laws in other countries would have been violated if they went to an international tournament. Since LCS is NA only, none of the FTX branding would carry over, even for an international event in NA.

Yeah that's why this LCS partnership will only air on the NA stream and will be taken off during international broadcasts. If there was a way to remove the FTX logo from their jersey's on a dime they'd be allowed to have it on the NA stream too

CoreJJ.... Show some mercy man.

He showed some mercy in G2/3 but came back with a vengeance with big brain shotcalling.
TL with Santorin looking like a new team.

I don't think I've seen TSM make a cleaner dive since season 6.

The irony of C9 getting Perks and missing out on Worlds just makes me cackle. That said, I have no faith in TSM being anything but crap at worlds.
