True. Just a necessary thing to suffer as part of the plan though, I think. On the other hand, ass whoopings inflicted upon the world by earlier renditions of the Dream Team didn't exactly hurt basketball! So I don't see how the other way around is necessarily a bad thing.

That segues into another topic which is probably not within the scope of this thread, but it is interesting. (otherwise, I'm not sure what that has to do with the main point; that Riot looks a lot at US sports for reference) So NBA/MLB/NHL posture themselves as being the premier leagues of their respective sports (which in itself surely finds some of its roots in classical MURICAN arrogance). It's a image cultivated by both press and the play on the court/field/ice over the years. And for NBA/MLB at least, the US has a head start on raising players for it. And this image attracts players from around the world with the ambition to demonstrate that they're among the best at their craft. In effect, it's a self-sustaining reputation. And I find it interesting that the League scene never really developed in this direction. At least, from what I'm seeing today. Even during the period in which OGN was held by consensus to be the peak of the competitive scene, the most I've heard about ambitious players/teams going somewhere to show off their stuff would be Champions Summer 2012.

Dyrus mentioned TSM went 1-2 against GE in scrims, one loss being a baron throw and the other Smeb had Rumble. Regardless I see this all being very competitive.

I can't imagine any GE-TSM scrim being very productive since someone will be playing with 200 ping either way, unless you mean they scrimmed at IEM in which case it's even more lomo since GET lost to WE that tournament due to lack of any preparation.
|
I'm assuming they meant at IEM.

Pawn will dumpster TSM. Hate to break the bad news. I'm not so sure about GET or SKT. I think SKT would far better with their more aggressive early game and stronger mid laner.

GE qualified for MSI right?

EDG vs SKT/GET hype! (hoping for SKT, personally)
Everyone else is calefare

Not gonna lie, I got caught in the "TSM IS THE LAST HOPE OF THE WEST WE'LL PROVE YOU HATERS WRONG" train. But as long as EDG vs GET/skt is competitive, I won't mind if TSM finishes 4th and EU 6th.

So... starting at 2 AM for EU each day? I mean, I get that they have to cater to Asia, especially since EU LCS is the worst region, but man, do we get fucked in the process. "From 2 AM to 10 AM" urgh.

To be fair Asian events are mostly OK to us and we're getting Worlds so can stomach one event :p
|
Assuming the times on this thread are right, it starts at 11pm for me which isn't quite so bad.

well if these teams actually prepare for this event (doubtful) it'll be hard for tsm.

Winning their region is just first step. You know how sensetive Koreans and Chinese people about their team in International tournaments.

Korea and China are both going to take this tournament extremely seriously. EDG pulled out of off-season tournaments to focus on preparation after winning LPL.
And please Alaric, US east coast had to watch worlds from 4am - 1pm every day OK that was mad struggle.
