Two things as public notice: 1. + Show Spoiler [Quarterfinals 1 spoiler] +Congrats to Fnatic, they played superbly and glgl to them in the Semis! No one is saying that Fnatic only won because of the level 1 in Game 3. Please keep the nationalistic statements out of our subforum. 2. Riot's Worlds format is atrocious. Let's not beat a dead horse here. I will certainly be talking to Riot's eSports dept about it in the near future. I simply ask everyone to be civil. Humble in victory, graceful in defeat. Enjoy the games~ -Neo, Sept 23rd, 3:20 PM PDT, page 120 |

I don't really think Uzi was even that amazing this series except for the super clutch missile dodge in G1 (possibly game winning), G2 it was Lucky impressing me with the sniper Cocoons shutting down Ahri in every teamfight.
Lulu looked really lame, never saw a big Wild Growth.

NJS 3 > 2 SKT (upsetttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt) FNC 1 < 3 RYL Feel like RYL has have enough time to figure out Fnatic and they should do ok.

Lulu looked really lame, never saw a big Wild Growth. Bigpomelo's Wild Growths were actually detrimental to the team, he used them in really poor places that allowed Royal to initiate without repercussions.
To be honest I think OMG still looked like the better overall team in these matches, but Royal clutched it out and exposed the weaknesses of OMG perfectly (cool's tendency to get picked off in mid-late game teamfights, san's zuna-esque decision making, bigpomelo's averageness) and outplayed them when it counted.

OGN has english coverage, LPL doesn't (?). yea, OGN is behind a paywall, but money is not the only restriction as far as access for casuals goes. unless you are looking for the games, the LPL just doesn't have much presence on the main western outlets like reddit..
also about uzi, he's always played pretty well. the difference between royal in the past and now is that white is carrying harder and they are making better decisions as a team. they play this dota-inspired 4 protect 1 strat and that means uzi will get farmed every game. when you are the focal point of the team it's easier to get flashy moments of carryness. but he's still an ADC, which isn't the main playmaking position until midgame.
|
OGN not only has English coverage, they have really good English coverage. That's the most important thing for attracting a western audience. Also many LoL viewers came from bw/sc2 so they've watched Korean stuff before.

Chauster talked more about Weixiao than Doublelift back when the NA pros first mentioned Weixiao due to their similarities.
Weixiao, unfortunately, as good as he is, does not have the initiative on WE to put his team on his back the way Uzi does. They are both amazingly gifted but WE revolves around Misaya as a shotcaller and often the initiator, while Weixiao is a far more passive player than Uzi. Royal just has this amazing understanding that they will always go in and because of their multiple threat styles, Uzi generally has the room to maneuver and carry harder than Weixiao does.

I mean, if immaculate fight positioning and cleanse timing don't impress you, I'm not sure what you're looking for.
Also, Godlike is well... a god, as sad as I am that LoveLin can play no more, I am happy that he(and Uzi) get to show more games.

WeiXiao's western hype train got major traction after that Ezreal play where he made a fool out of Space in some NGTV Korea & China hybrid tournament around S2 Worlds. The reaction was very similar to Faker's Zed play.

That is not the point. Also, I think that there is no team less balanced than the old CLG.EU/EG when it comes to having 1 player.

teams already try to target faker. he's the biggest magnet for focus fire every game lol. that's why piglet has such a high kda because he doesn't get focused half the time

Re-watch the pivotal G1 fight (at OMG's t2 mid), Uzi actually cleanses absolutely nothing.
What actually happens: -Caitlyn plays absolutely standard for the first bit, hitting Lee cause he's the only person in range and Uzi is completely safe. -Lee flashes to safety at low HP, Uzi flashes after him for the kill, losing half his health in the process (he flashed into a rocket and Orb of Deception) -Jax goes HAM as fuck and flash leaps onto Uzi, he flashes nets away but not before being stunned. Jax uses ignite on Caitlyn right as he dies (26:12) -Uzi walks right into an Ahri charm. Luckily Lucky has jumped Ahri and she didn't aim her Q with her E or he would have died right here. -He's charmed for the full duration, but now Corki is on him so he uses Cleanse at 26:15. So he saved himself from 2/5ths of the Ignite damage and nothing else (no CC at all). -He then dodges the Corki missile that would have killed him, which is honestly his only interesting play of this whole fight
The Cleanse in this fight was actually terrible. Honestly this fight is all about Jax going HAM and his team not really being on the same page, nothing Uzi did was significant. I have no idea why San used Valkyrie like that either, even if he did kill Caitlyn with the missile, it made no sense, cost him an auto-attack for no gain.
On a side-note, does anyone else wish there was a lot more super-slow-motion analysis of teamfights? They've got that cool touchboard thing but they don't really go into that much detail.

Damn Uzi really is a god if he has two flashes.

Ah good catch, the jump away from Jax is off screen but obviously it has to be a Net and not a flash.

That fight (maybe the game?) is on San deciding to go for vlad.

I'll have to check but that Cleanse removes ignite and very likely saved his life. He was pretty darn low after that. I wouldn't call it "terrible" although Uzi's facecheck into Ahri charm was pretty bad.

San just blew it.
