This is where they fell short against fnatic, where SK fell short against fnatic and where Wolves fell short against EG - they all got their advantages, but failed to exploit the mistakes their opponents made while cutting corners. Giants just took the advantage this time and stomped on GG's toes everytime they could. This replay. You can practically see how Diamond goes OH SHIT and turns around, running towards Baron

Btw if they would not play serious they would try out stuff and not pla ythe same thing as the game before that just worked so well. I say that based on the fact that they hardly ever took any season 2 online tournaments serious, they play like shit when they're behind (which is why they "polished" their strategies versus Blaze/Frost and crushed them immensely hard like the usual M5-snowball we saw through-out season 2) and that this game looked like the usual M5 herp-derp when they don't focus on early-game strategies, getting a lead and then working with that lead to finally win the game. M5/GG is all about winning the early-game and then make a snowball of out their lead, and if they don't, they herp derp like a bunch of low-elo scrubs and lose.

The comp was also exponentially weaker with ezreal instead of MF, you need the AOE and range from MF to kill people. I guess they were hoping to land good trueshots but thats far lower percentage than just pressing R in their direction with MF. Also Alex Ich played terribly early which didn't help.

The fnatic comp was similarly tanky - Wukong, Malphite, Olaf - and their teamcomp had similar CC, especially with triple knockups. Giants just played their lineup far, far better and exploited the holes in GG's play, especially by stopping Diamond from getting his ganks started.

I am only saying this for the sake of being devil's advocate, but I would argue that them playing a fairly identical comp with similar tactics is an indicator that they are "trying out stuff." If they win or lose with it once, it could be a fluke. But if it won twice today then it would be a viable comp. GG, as all teams do, have a LOT of games to play. I think that they know the big money is in 8-10 months and all we have to do is get 4th in the first half of the season. I think they are good enough to spend a lot of these games experimenting. They probably only need to go 16-12 to keep a top 4 position, and I bet they know it. Just my two cents from the good ole devil's advocate.

Yeah there are some real problems in GG's thought processes during champ select. So many times they straight up let people like Froggen and Misaya get their signature champs and then get destroyed by those champs. Then they give the enemy team Ryze Olaf Mundo which you basically cannot beat in late game. MF would have been good since they needed to win early and had the AOE, but the problem is the enemy team also got Zyra which is so dangerous in lane if you have no escapes. From what I see GG probably derps harder in champ select than even CLG.
