[IEM] Kiev Discussion - Page 88
Forum Index > LoL Tournaments |
At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected") At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 20.1.2012

People weren't ganking top, people weren't dying top. Essentially the only purpose of the top laner was to show up in dragon fights. Why was nobody ganking top? I'm not sure. Could it be the new jungle offers so much reward for fast clearing (see Shyvanna) that ganking top is just not viable? I really want to see if top lane continues to see such extremely limited action during the semi-finals. Games are also ending really, really fast. This is another trend that i'm trying to figure out. I think it's a combination of people being substantially better than they used to be, and the new masteries. People who gain an advantage now are much better at pushing that advantage. We aren't seeing the poor tower dives or the forced barons, we are just seeing crisp play that results in quick decisive victories. The masteries could also be playing a small part in this. With the reworks to masteries people are gaining power more quickly, therefore a small gold advantage now means more in terms of strength than it used to pre-mastery rework." Remarkably clear-headed breakdown of each lane for TSM vs Dignitas, too.

People will keep picking him, because he's ~a SuPpOrT~, but he and Sona are the only 'supports' that can't take a solo, and Taric is definitely not Sona. e: Nunu support proves that it's not just about having sustain, Janna is fine as well if you don't do something stupid like Janna/Vayne. Taric's kit is just so bad without E / after 20 minutes.

Sorry I didn't notice it hasn't been played, does this actually affect any outcomes for finals?

EDIT btw why is it still showing up as TBD vs TBD on the semis? TSM vs Dignitas and SK vs M5 are the matches.

It's not as useful if you watch it just to learn the champion, but it's interesting to hear his thoughts about the game in general, certain champs and how IEM Kiev is going in general. Entertaining for sure. Also: Bitter being the awesome bauss he is. Also they probably did this with very little preparation time. In the studio with MrBitter with a few days of prep things should turn out even better ![]()
