LotV closed beta announced to start on March 31 - Page 93

Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here. Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk.

I get it's a beta and we're now just free testers for Blizzard but a little more transparency leading up to today would have gone a long way. I don't know if you've ever played World of Warcraft, but if you've had you've learned that this is how Blizzard has operated all their releases over the past decade. It always draws the ire of the respective fans and nothing ever changes. I'm still excited though, but I remembered to put on my patience pants today so I don't go jumping around like a maniac.

You are not alone, I have very important 3 day work education tomorrow. I can't even get a day off, which I was able to do for Monday and Tuesday, but nope.. So I have to go sleep pretty soon and that will probably be the time Beta goes live..

Forget about the beta for now and focus on your personal matters lol.

Ravagers have higher DPS, less health, bigger unit model and Corrosive bile ability. They are armored and have slighty higher speed than roaches. Thats all. Ravagers don't benefit from roach upgrades, and they can't move and use corrosive bile ability while burrwed

Ya know what is really sad, is that being a modder I know that I could make all the units for LOTV multiplayer in... say a week at most in my spare time. What really must take them a lot of time is the single player campaign and cutscenes and stuff. So that should leave Browder and Kim tons of my time to go ahead and think up great ideas for units and balance changes... but then they release stuff like the Warhound. Where else is their time going? These new units and balance changes better blow people's socks off and make LOTV not just a better game than HOTS, but better than WOL. The way they are updating SC2 is so old fashioned it is ridiculous. Modders have already literally made LOTV (as they did with HOTS) and probably have a better understanding of the balance issues presented by the changes than the SC2 team. Modders and the community certainly did with the Warhound, MSC, Hellbats, ect. I really hope Blizzard listens to the community this time around, and fixes many of the mistakes they made with HOTS. In the future, development should be an ongoing evolution, not just "hey let's add a few (poorly balanced) units the community could make in 10 minutes every couple of years!" And if that means they have to change how people pay for the product, so be it.

Browder is also the director on Heroes of the Storm and Kim isn't even in development, your choice of examples are so offbase it makes it extremely difficult to take your main points seriously. The part I bolded is particularly hilarious. We get people telling us that all the time about our website so I offer cash rewards for it and no one has ever collected.

I think the Ravager is going to hardcounter the Lurker quite badly and they are lower tech. That plus that Lurkers are even higher than hydratech (the investment... how are you holding the mass roach before you have lurkers?).
