LotV closed beta announced to start on March 31 - Page 90

Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here. Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk.

New economy I expect games for the first month (at the very least) to be extremely volatile. You get behind --> You die pretty quickly as your forced to expand really fast and the game doesn't have a strong enough defenders advantage to allow comebacks. As time goes on I expect that the meta will stagnate very much w/ only few builds being viable and other builds being considered way too greedy. The logic this prediction is that you are forced to expand very fast, and if you do builds where you get expos at a medium fast rate and doesn't have paritcularly strong harass/all-in options, you are unlikely to do well. So as the meta gets figured out, most games will either consist of (a) very passive turtling play where players only focus on securing new expos as fast as possible or (b) very strong timings/all-ins that punishes players who take expos too quick.

I have to say I am not a fan of that as it's possible that dodging the ability in a lot of situations might not be properly rewarded. Typically there is a punishment for moving your units as they lose DPS and you move them to a less efifcient position, and when the Ravager can just spam the ability at your new location 2 seconds after, I am very sceptical of its current implementation. basically its a storm that can stack, except you see it coming. I think they should nerf the cast range so there is some risk to going in and spamming the ability and moving out.

The range is already pretty low the Terran just did not do a very good job dodging them!

Remove the spell alltogether, make it so that ravager's autoattacks break forcefields (not necessarily with one attack!) and think about a way to make them interesting and not "better roaches". Yes i really hate the current ravagers -.-

Damagewise your absolutely rewarded for dodging Psy Storm (the penalty for staying in a storm is huge) and Psy Storm costs 75 energy. Ravager on the other hand. You can easily have 10+ of them and each of them has a 10 second cooldown. But each of them deal relatively low damage. Obviously when you play bio, moving around and dodging the shots is very easy since your so mobile. But protos needs a mobility buff to be properly rewarded for splitting up that ball during engagements. I fear that it still could end up being optimal to just amove the protoss deathball and just take the hits rather than spend unncesary APM dodging them.

It's the best addition to LotV. Conceptwise yes, but the current implementation doesn't seem that good, and Blizzard has a very poor trackrecord when it comes to figuring out proper stats for units.
