Well I mean I keep seeing people build ap when the original "buff" was a nerf to ap builds. I don't think he's amazing but i think this probably hurts his win rate compared to if he was only played as a 1 damage item max tank

They did something to Cho's silence (w i think) at some point and made it really unreliable and this is what killed cho and now they're trying to compensate on a completely unnecessary to be changed ability and normally it does not really work.

Yea it got nerfed a while back but I'm saying his playrate recently increased based on changes that were actually a further nerf to ap builds. The fact that people aren't exclusively playing him tank or roa + tank is exasterbating his lack of current strength. (Specifically in response to his winrate being cited)

People probably think he has integrated tankiness so i can freely build damage and be a tank and a damage dealer simultaneously

He's not a great tank though, so full-tank Cho builds are not good. Full tank Cho is basically Singed without map pressure. He is a decent anti-assassin with silence>knockup>ult, but IMO to justify that being his role he needs to be either a support or jungler. He sucks in lane as a support so that's a no, and he can't clear the jungle fast enough, so another no (also his ganks are unreliable and "meh" damage).

He can be an oppressive laner into melee carries not named Fiona, which is (sometimes) enough. Like yes he's not A tier but full ap isn't even b tier so his win rate reflects something lower than b which is probably a reasonable assessment of roa + tank.
I could be proven wrong but that is my view on the situation and why I think his win rate is a dubious metric (even compared to normal)
Edit: crucially in solo w he's a tank that can lane into Warwick and not get destroyed because he can burst him at low health.

Actually reading my own post over he's just kinda a shitty renekton. A semi tank that beats carries top, but basically requires flash to have any threat on an adc late game. Only with cho the adc can counter flash because all your abilities have cast times.

Also, no dash, and poor splitpushing, and bad TP threat. That's why people play him AP-Builds, he's not useful in the frontlines, he's useful for standing right next to your (hopefully hypercarry) ADC and silencing/feasting divers after they wasted their mobility spells. I've argued before that this is, generally, not a useful role for solo-lane champions to occupy (in the Olaf context), and such it remains true in the cho context. They just need to figure out how with an E-start, W-max build order he can keep up with RekSai in jungle speed and HP.

His split isn't that bad he's great with rot because of his natural health and he can 1v2 most laners that he beats + a jungler provided he's ahead, which he should be.
He's bad but he has strengths and just running it down lane all day like Yorick is one of them.

I don't see how a Camille/Renekton/Rumble/GP + Graves/Rengar/Kha/Elise lane isn't killing him. And with toplaners like Shen, Mao, Poppy, etc, you don't even fight him at that point, you just proxy his proxy and do 5x as much once you both TP.

I've been playing the meme cho'gath lately with all the health scaling items Cinderhulk, FotM, Titanic Hydra, then stuff like Spirit Visage and resistances Not sure if good, but definitely meme

I personally find playing Cho as a tank really unsatisfying. Other tanks are more fun for whatever reason.

What's your Top pool? You still want to lean on AD vs Galio. He benefits more off building MR.

He does a lot of damage for a tank and actually got a burst combo. I think the match up is going to be all about playing around each others passive, Galio would want to pop your shield with a normal attack and then immediately hit with an empowered which you obviously dont want.

I would be pretty surprised if galio can solo lane. His taunt and ultimate are both pretty useless there in a vacuum. If he can solo lane well with basically 2 skills then he's probably busted.

Oh, he'll be able to solo lane great. QEQW Q>E>W works as skill build, he has broken damages all across the board and will be able to both fight and push really well. On top of that he has a semiglobal ult, so I don't see any problems there. In fact I think he'll be extremely strong, especially since his kit doesn't have too much skill associated with it.

New Galio seems alright, top lane he has really good gank support with EW and Q does a surprising amount of damage if you CC them in the tornado

Not sure the source. In theory it makes sense though. Dirk is a damage item that comes with a free pair of boots thanks to its passive. lol wiki doesn't value the move speed in their efficiency calculation, but if you included it dirk must be super efficient.

I've seen a few yis running that build as well with Dirk before anything. Yi is still a pretty good champ for soloq. Can definitely 1v9.

Seen a lot of yi's myself nothing really any different then before other then him hitting an earlier damage spike but a weaker 6 item fantasy because he's not super tanky like last time he was in the solo q meta. I did have one carry super hard when we were down 20 kills because enemy team only cc was fizz ult and there Mundo didn't even build ninja tabi so he just did the typical Yi thing and penta killed after our team got aced in a 4v5 that he was doing red buff at the start.

hey a bit of a long shot, but would anyone have any idea what my connection issues are caused by?
facts:
- stable ping throughout the game. constant 29-30 ping. no fluctuations - both 'attempting to reconnect' freezes and complete client crashes. seemingly random as I get both of them pretty much an equal amount of times in a game - happens in short intervals. around every 2-4 minutes. longest I've gone without was ~8 minutes - seemingly no packet loss. ping check seems fine before, during, and after game. stable ping, 0% packet loss on multiple tests. - can usually see what's happening as I 'd/c' ex. opponent killing me and my death animation + death recap then it freezes or crashes. when I get a freeze I usually return to game after 10 seconds.
there is also a strange bug where if I reconnect after a tower is destroyed, game will show that my tower still exists ( can ping it and everything ). Actually died from that when I got 'tower dove' only to realize there was no tower there.
this issue has been happening the last 2 days. only attempted to play one game each day though.
other important facts outside of game: -I live in a college apartment -it is finals week -I played at 4am and 1 am respectively -have only had internet issues one other time and that was only for that day. rest of the time here this year my internet has been near perfect. -have tried switching from ethernet to wifi , doesnt matter - have tried switching clients, doesnt matter
my best guess is that its finals week and has led to a high volume of people staying up at the same time using the internet. however it is strange that my ping is unaffected and I have no packet loss according to ping test. I also have no issues with internet in terms of streaming and such. I am watching twitch.tv, youtube, playing hearthstone, etc. all at the same time with no lag or drop in quality. Also interesting that my client completely crashes at times? So yeah idk what's up.
gonna try asking this on reddit too once it's back up since it's such a strange issue. edit: according to a redditor my ISP is probably garbage and cannot handle heavy traffic not sure if this is right

it could be upload bandwidth (unlikely i think), or maybe your router is overloaded (# of connections or just downright overloaded with too many clients) both explain why it only happens during a multiplayer game, and also why it doesn't happen with hearthstone.
you probably don't have access to check the building's router, but if you somehow do that would confirm it.

+ Show Spoiler [reply to nemireck that's not rea…] +funny you mention that since the issue went away on the weekend ( I guess final week was the problem). played a day of flex queue with friends on a smurf. then tried to finish the session with 1 soloq game. had no issues for 30 minutes in a sure win then all of a sudden my entire building's power went out. all 24 floors. had to rush to get on mobile hotspot and finished the game after 20 more minutes because they got baron and inhib off my 5 minutes of dc. also had shit ping cause of mobile hotspot.
so yeah marc merill out to get my soloq elo
galio winrates look pretty decent. 48% already in the toplane

I would say hes basically a worse nautilus in the top lane.
His skills have large delays and dont seem suited to a low latency environment, so I dont think we will see him in lcs unless a team just wants to try him out or he is eventually strictly better numberwise then every other AP tank
He seems to do pretty well as a cheese pick mid too, he can punish immobile mids pretty hard.
his jungle seems bad. Support he's pretty good but I think enchanters are too much right now. Would probably find himself as a top tier tank support if enchanters nerfed.

I like him as a followup engage paired with a tanky diving jungler: Galio/Amumu layering their ults is a pretty nice combo.

nautilus is only the best top lane tank in the game
might see him in the future depending on what champs get nerfed/buffed and meta
I really like his cc/utility.

you need to use q on a minion that is 1 hit away from dying before using q on other minions. also lucian cant turn that quick so the other targets have to be fairly in line with the first minion that died
