Well that goes against the rules that teams can't talk to players so at that point why even have that rule in place if you going to enforce teams informing players. It's just that certain owners like the RNG and TSM guys believed that it's wrong and players should be informed so they put it in contract. I thought roster lock happens at the start of the split so that would be pointless.

Regi also has the luxury that none of his players have willingly left TSM for another North American team...ever On January 07 2016 03:36 Numy wrote: Well that goes against the rules that teams can't talk to players so at that point why even have that rule in place if you going to enforce teams informing players. To fix this they should just have the equivalent of a trade deadline in NA mainstream sports and prevent roster changes after like week 7.

There are some poaching violations that have some credibility at least but this one just felt bad all over.

True I'm not actually sure either. If it was about mid split trading then they could just make it that players can't switch teams mid split which accomplishes the same thing but then again teams could pay a person a huge sum of money just to leave and not play then play for them next split. Think if someone is going to go that far they'd get around any "poaching" rules anyway though.

Not to mention that if you go to MSI, your players will probably not even have those full 2 weeks, as they'll have to fly out to MSI, compete in it, fly back, get maybe 2 days off then go back to scrims to get ready for Summer split. There's such a crunch of time for the players in the offseason where they need to: > Get health issues fixed (if necessary) > Unwind/decompress > Plan out what you're going to do for the holidays (trips, signings, etc.) > Fulfill whatever team/sponsorship obligations you have And oh, you still have to keep your mechanics up in the off-season via playing solo queue, not to mention that if you stream you're probably going to be doing that during the off-season to keep said mechanics up. I do agree in that players should have some sort of say on hearing offers from teams, but Riot's anti-poaching rules (to my knowledge) make it be that if you even mention any talk about trading players between organizations or leaving one team for another without the organization's knowledge, you're getting fined or suspended.

Next best thing would probably be for Riot to gather all of the owners, region by region, together in one place and hammer something out, I suppose. Tricky part of that is defining 'owners'; just the LCS teams? LCS and CS? LCS, CS, and CS hopefuls? It reminds me that the LCS regions don't have a singular body to represent the teams, like L.Ace or KeSPA.

The big reason why there's such a variance in the length of time for teams is due to how well or how poorly all the teams do. So if you're a bottom team your season ends on the last day of the Spring/Summer splits. But if you're a top 3 team you basically play from January to October with maybe a 2 week break sometime in late April or early May and again in late August through early September as you transition from Spring to Summer and Summer to Worlds. Not to mention that if you go to MSI, your players will probably not even have those full 2 weeks, as they'll have to fly out to MSI, compete in it, fly back, get maybe 2 days off then go back to scrims to get ready for Summer split. Nope. How it plays out is, any organization or player talking to another player from another organization (without permission of the organization) regarding transfer is liable to fines or suspension. Organizations can talk to other organizations regarding contract buyouts and player trades; that's perfectly fine.

So the time varies from something like 3 to 8 months. Really crazy when you look into it. I hope riot reconsiders 1 month worlds, it was pretty bad imo
