They could just remove jungler items all together and let smite either have passive that increase gold from camps or an effect like Poacher's but on any jungle camp. Poacher's effect could add an interesting minigame in keeping smite timer in queue with objective spawns.

Inceased gold per level from such a smite could open up for more carry junglers I think, as it'd be more and more beneficial goldwise to let junglers keep farming the jungle instead of having mid/adc start hogging it.

How about you can't take smite and teleport at the same time? Or if you take both the special effects from the jungle item are negated if you also have teleport. It might not curb the smite users in solo queue but it would probably be enough for competitive.

'Carry' junglers would also be helped if Devourer didn't have to be so crap because of edge abuse cases.

Why is that a better solution? Smite/TP Master Yi has been fun for ages. The problem is jungle items. What I don't understand about people who defend them is that they have never not been a problem. There has been consistent problems with laners using them, and thats just the surface. The jungle items are never balanced within themselves, so that the jungle FOTM is almost 100% created by whichever jungle item is the best at that time. Recently, it was all warrior champions, now cinderhulk, in S4 it was all Lizard champs, and before that all Golem.

With regards to banning multiple smites per team, I'm a fan of more elegant solutions. Make rules not exceptions.
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Well, that could work, but to balance it they'd either have to make it do alot more damage or heal alot more health or they'd have to change either his E or his passive into a cc :p

Like... if my lane opponent spends his first 900 gold on non-combat stats and comes to lane with no potential combat summoners... thats a HUUGE gamble for him.

Gives you ages to exploit that shit. Who cares if he is level 2, thats only like 60 gold worth of stats now a days. Just all in the mofo. What he going to do? Flash away? Smite you? Teleport home even though he likely TP'd to lane?

I kind of thinks its a non-issue for soloqueue, and riot has already shown they like the double jungle thing in competitive.

Well, summoner spells are blind, which is problem #1. And, plus, the "just body your opponent" thing hasn't worked on anything besides Renekton in forever.

Thats not a Cinderhulk problem though, thats a there is too many safe laners problem though. Or quit picking stuff like Maokai that can't really punish kids when you are ahead.

There are a ton of champs that would dumpster a Shyvana going top with Smite/TP.

Panth comes to mind, J4, Aatrox, Xin, even like Volibear. I think the meta can easily adjust and make this a terrible terrible strat unless you are 1v2ing.

You can't see that its TP/Smite until its too late...

Plus its not a smite problem, or even just a cinderhulk problem, its a jungle item problem, and one that has excisted since the beginning of jungle items.

only after trying to nerf it with every tower buff imaginable.

people tunnel to hard on base stats from levels when the topic of level advantage from smite comes up. levels 1-4 are big deals because of skillpoints not just raw stats, if I come to lane and I already have E and W on shyvana I'm getting farm, you can't stop me.

Cinderhulk is strong, possibly OP but Skirmisher smite is a problem and I'm not sure what Riot wants/is going to do about it, every iteration they have tried has gotten a hero nerfed that would not have otherwise been nerfed if Skirmish smite was not so strong

I actually really agree with Clutz's point, looking back 2 years fotm/op junglers have always been the ones that can use the strongest jungle item at the time, very rarely has it been about the actual hero being OP idk thats kinda a problem (although I'd downgrade it to 50/50 jungle items being a problem and Riot limiting their own design space by removing aura strats from the game)

Smite/TP toplaners doesn't start with machete, you can easily do a single camp with Doran's Blade or Ruby Crystal for instance. First buy is usually Bami's Cinder, which is combat stats, and a pretty deceptively good one at that too.

if you run smite on Garen does spin trigger the true damage, they register as autos no?

Yeah, sure.

But why is it a bad thing for laners to be able to buy Jungle items?

I've asked this like 10 times, no one has a reason other than "because." Everyone complains that LoL has not enough cool active items... Smite now is essentially an active item and everyone hates it.
