Nautilus' also not that tanky without levels and farms, he's not Leona or Thresh, so I don't consider him pretty good (and pros must have a similar opinion since iirc they don't play him without a laneswap, he doesn't have much presence early and gets oom fast).

I'm pretty sure Lomonation has played him in 2v2s and he looks good. That being said, Naut is also the last "standard" option. If you're looking for a tanky support past the ones you've mentioned, I think there's Taric (good luck) and then you're looking at stuff like Galio, Darius, Maokai, etc. (read: probably bad ideas).

Also: Pick Taric. Taric is seriously good. I should know.

How do you even play Taric though? His mana costs are absurdly high, same as his cooldowns unless you can use his passive (and if you try to max range E someone, then auto before you W, they'll be able to walk out of range after your auto).

I max W>E>Q and am not a healbot. I'll get frozen heart relatively early and then mana is barely an issue. Before that just get a mana pot every time you back and you should be fine. And you can use his passive quite well in teamfights. Especially with more tanks currently fights get longer which is pretty good for Taric.

Do you go mobis early and roam mid whenever you can to use your point'n'click cc to punish them?

I get mobis relatively early (usually after sightstone), but I'm not roaming more than usual. I'm not the main initiatior for teamfights (though in lane stun works fine), but the stun is a good follow up tool. I just try to peel as much as possible and provide armor/ad/ap/armorshred/heals as much as possible. The amount of buffs/debuffs/cc that taric brings into teamfights is really deceptive. You don't look like you are doing a lot, but you actually are.

And he basically wrecks team fights by standing around and throwing stun.

Do you just run around and try to zone them or something to make space, and try to counter-engage if they jump your partner? Do you threaten a stun at level 1 to avoid getting pushed in (Taric seems exactly the kind of champ I'd be afraid to pick because a bad Ezreal or Lucian will end under tower while still level 1) and try not to hit 2 too behind?

if you play safe and wait for them to go in you can counter engage in bot lane it works pretty well

However, I see the point that Taric is not a champ that carries a game on his own. You cannot make plays. But I don't care about making plays anyway. I trust my teammates enough to go at least even and then we win teamfights (hopefully). Lvl 1 is you just race for lvl 2. Your lvl 2 is pretty strong, but your lvl 1 is bad, so in the best case you have an adc that can push the wave quickly. In general though, being pressured under the turret is not too bad. Good adcs can lasthit under turret just fine and Taric has great gank support. The named supports (Ali, Janna, Thresh) are actually pretty good Taric matchups. More trouble are pokey supports that can disengage well, just as the mentioned Vel'Koz.

dunno i generally just dont trust auras because they rely a lot on certain players for example tarics mostly only help the adc because you cant really dive with anyone else with physical damage and he has worse peel than most so if your adc gets killed what do you do i just feel like tarics a shit champ who you are good at rather than a undiscovered good champ
