He's a huge advocate of giving midgame-oriented items (like Chalice and Guise in their time) slot- and gold-efficient upgrades, and to keep the items stronger without a premium on slot efficiency. Actually, slot-efficiency as a concept for balancing items seems entirely lost on them. And because it's on purpose, whatever they say is hard to look at just because the basis they operate on is so hugely flawed. | ||

Having an item that doesn't fulfill Bronze V jizz fantasies of lategame "cool" item is anti-fun. How else would Ketara play if he couldn't rush Tiamat -> Hydra? Honestly they could balance mid game power spike items by giving them upgrades that are just kind of shitty but sound cool to noobs (make Runaan's upgrade out of a cheaper less slot-efficient, but even more gold efficient Shiv or something) because who gives a fuck what you build in Plastic 7 anyways. My roommate was playing last night in Wood 4 and won a 55 minute game with a 23k gold deficit by the end of it so obviously itemization efficiency really doesn't matter at all there. | ||
