For competitive play, I think the only significant change after 4.14 is that Alistar can't auto while headbutting. Maybe also the terrain change if Froggen brings out the Anivia.
Played him a couple times and he is definitely interesting. Feels more like an ADC than a mage, tbh. I could actually see him being played as the carry position in lieu of an ADC. Big huuuge damage, like absurd damage, but man he is squishy. Like Big time squishy. With Abyssal and Athenes I died in 1 combo to a level 14 Malzahar without DFG about a 3rd of the way through his R. Like, mega squishy. I had scaling MR glyphs too, and I was level 18 (I bodied him in lane, but I think that was just because I'm a play player and he was a bronzie, yay teambuilder, definitely feels like a competent opponent would shit on him in lane on a lot of champions, can't really win trades unless he presses E, and in which case he is all in as fuck). Thats like 120 MR and I just like popped, all he had was sorc shoes and a Liandry's.
His scaling is absurd though. His single target damage with 3 soldiers is on par if not higher than an AD carries easily. Just Blue buff and Blue pot gives you 50 attack speed, add in a Nashors tooth... you have 3 soldiers attacking at like 1.5 attacks per second (so 4.5 attacks per second, with your auto attacks) doing 170 + .7 AP, so at least 4.5 * (350 * .7 + 170) = 1860 damage per second (before mitigation of course) just with soldiers, totally ignoring nashors auto attacks, and spell damage. Although, in most realistic situations you only have 2 soldiers, so more like 1240 dps, but still thats huuuge as single target damage. As single target damage that is comparable with a late game AD carry easily, but when you factor in that it is AoE it gets kind of silly fast if you get a good teamfight.
Maybe I am just playing him wrong, but he definitely cannot initiate or make plays like most mages, his R works good as a self peel, but that is about it, it really isn't a spell that works well with any sort of play making because of how buggy it is right now, if you flash and try to R them toward your tower for example you end up shooting it in a random direction... I tried it like 10 times and I havn't had it work once, yet you'd think it'd be exactly like using flash thresh knockup... but it really isn't.

That song was awesome and the presentation is awesome.
Disagree. The video was genuinely bad, nowhere near as good as last years (Which was sick). I mean did we really need like 30 seconds of fucking lights flying through clouds?
I honestly think Azir would excel more in a 2v2 situation bottom with a baby sitter. He gets dumpstered by a host of popular mid lanes (zed, yasuo, akali, talon, ahri, fizz, kass, LeBlanc... the last goes on and on. Basically anything that moves he auto loses), he is more item dependant than level dependant, he scales ridiculously well, and his skills make him trade favorably bottom, not to mention it keeps him away from all the scary champs with mobility and other solo lane bullies.
Only problem with azir being your adc is he does pathetic damage to buildings in comparison to a traditional adc.

I mean I don't care that it's not the best League video made. The best League video of all time has already been made anyway. I don't care that it's not the best League song ever. (The jury's still out on that one ... Ghost in the Machine is close but not quite there.)
I think it does exactly the job it's supposed to: get you hyped on the eve of what'll be the biggest esports event in history. It's got a thumping anthemic beat. It's Imagine Dragons, not some random video game band. It's got some badass shots of what the final stage might look like. That's really all it needs to do. I'm sure there will be more cinematics during the event itself.

eh his damage is pretty good to buildings actually. just gonna burn your soldiers to deal the burst damage. he does about as much as an adc in sieges, and if you grab a lich bane he does more. but thats an item thats incredibly difficult to use outside of sieges for him. gotta be amazing at managing your ranges.

Isn't the range for W on towers a lot shorter than an adc's aa range? It seems pretty risky to try to use it on a tower while sieging.
iCanada, you need to read the W tooltip more closely: multiple soldiers dealing damage to the same target get reduced damage. Every soldier after the first one does 25% of normal damage.
Burning soldiers on towers is dumb though. "Hey enemy team, I'm utterly useless for the next fifteen seconds while my soldiers are on cd!" I mean, I guess if you ace them, but in those situations taking towers never an issue, it's when you poking and sieging you really want to be a tower damage threat as it is. Screams dive us now and win for free to me.
Same with building lich bane, you just get way more damage building nashors tooth and it finishes earlier, and then you need done survivability items asap I think.
But I might just be bad and position like a total scrub.

Hmm, maybe he doesn't do as much damage as I thought to single targets then. Still a ton though. Like 980 dps to single target with two soldiers. That's same damage as like Ashe / Caitlyn to a single target.

I mean, with CDR and max rank he gets another soldier every 5 seconds.
And if there's nobody there you can burn a tower down crazy CRAZY fast. If there is, you just use one charge on the tower and keep the second up for a fight.
