Lategame unless you built AP he wasnt even doing damage regardless.

He is mostly an ult + Q/W Spam to peel for your carry lategame.
He does have insane midgame camp potential though.

I do find it suspect (for pro play) for a jungler to rely on a 525 range targeted ability. That is lower than Fiddle Fear and Panth stun (also less powerful, at least early). It actually reminds me a lot of how Nasus would work when he was a FOTM jungler, which doesn't bode well, because Nasus jungle was OP for a while, then never really seen again.

I still think Spirit Fire is completely underrated in teamfights, that armor debuff is crazy.

Sure, but it doesn't really matter in team fights because you're just peeling.

Does Mao have and heightened capability as a support now? Anyone tried/thought about that? Seems like with more utility and a peeling focus he'd be a bit better. Harder to make engagements happen in lane though.

Also, I'm having the weirdest couple of days. Can't win a game in my preferred roles as mid or support, get stuck playing top a few times and end with decent scores in won games. Get ADC once and I'm legendary by 13 minutes. Maybe should change roles

I know Neo was playing it pre patch, his E base damage got taken out to the woodshed which I imagine hurts his lane, but the W changed def make him better late as a support (free damage+nonscailing ult always a plus) but I'd ask Neo since he was playing it before the patch

I had played it a little pre-patch too. But I just played it as a hyper all in type lane and never took it too seriously. Did it for fun really. Pretty much all in from level 2 onwards at every chance.

Now with more utility and better peel late game, there seems like there is more potential there, even if his laning took a slight hit. Start with relic shield then full CDR tank, probably something like Frozen Heart, Locket and Face of the Mountain. Maybe Iceborne instead of Locket for more mana and the spellblade proc is pretty good on him anyway.

Nasus got huge range nerfs which basically destroyed him. All the whither nerfs hurt, but were perfectly justified. When Riot slashed his cast ranges, he fell off the competitive radar; another example of why Riot should never touch ranges.

Maokai's big problem late game, apart from doing virtually no damage (that changed with W, both the damage itself and the shorter cd) is how fast he can drain his own manapool (W takes more now because shorter cd > lower cost, and despite the buff his ult is still horrendously costly in long fights).

You don't really want to turn your ult off because it has too long a cd to be used twice in a fight, but if you let it go on then you won't even be able to WQ people later in the fight when peeling and cleaning-up is important.

Not to drag this discussion back towards free champs--but to drag it back to free champs--did anyone participate in the Mac Beta way back in the day? If you did you received something along the lines of 20 free champs, it was crazy! Are there any other ways to receive a free bundle of this magnitude anymore?

yeah but good luck getting people to stand in any area nasus is running to. teamfights are way too mobile for that these days and probably since like 2012 lol

hell it wasnt enough for people to stand in maokais ult that they had to centre it on him
