It's dishonest and at this point in time, it's unnecessary.
Sidenote: Why does skin production seem to have slowed so much? I want a nami skin that looks nice!

What, bullet Nocturne? Dude that build is such a blast, I've been using it for awhile. Shit-awful, but fun as hell.
Meanwhile, Karma on U.R.F is one hell of an experience. You're literally unkillable. I can say with some confidence that it's the most entertaining champion (and one of the most intense) to use on U.R.F. High as fuck skillcap though. My finger hurts from almost permanently holding down the ALT key lol

You can make that exact same argument about champions, given that's there's 100+ of them and the flavor of the month changes, well, every month. If you never bought champions you might still be stuck playing Brand or Graves (though at least graves was buffed again). In fact people in this very thread made this argument. Owning a variety of good champions is the same thing as owning a variety good rune pages, they're advantages. People are more willing to bend over backwards to play a champ they like but that doesn't change whether or not that champion is weak.
So if you're going to condemn the rune changes on the grounds that balancing stuff screws up the runes you own you also have to condemn the cycles of champion balance on the grounds that it screws up the champions you own. In which case you might as well go play DotA 2 because that's the only moba/arts/whateveryoucallit that only sells cosmetics and nothing else (that I'm aware of anyway).
In reality though we accept champion balance because (a) it keeps the entire game fresh and (b) we're used to it. Runes on the other hand only really appeal to tinkerers and are invisible passive things so for someone like you shaking that up is just an annoyance whereas for me it's an opportunity to try things out before people figure out what's "best" again.

I am fairly certain at this point that Feral Flare is bad on Nocturne. I can see the potential a la CLG style, but Lizard/Golem is way better.

My issue is that once my team gets behind for whatever reason, I am absolutely fucked. Furthermore, Nocturne's utility is a bit low, so if things go wrong it's hard to turn the tides (especially if I also need to work with a very small mana pool).
Feral Flare is OK, but Lizard/Golem is a lot safer.

Noc doesn't really needs to do much more than Q with Wriggles/Flare, and taking the large monster recoups a lot of that.
