Because it's a gold item you want to build it as soon as possible to maximize efficiency.
But because it's a crit item you want to wait till you have AD to build it to maximize efficiency.
And lo, it's a bad item and nobody buys it (except Yasuo now because he has synergy with his passive).
If they changed it to 10 AD and gold generation everybody and their mom would buy it all the time.

It would still be bad with 10 AD instead of crit at the current gold rate. But people like to build trash gold item (e.g. post-nerf Heart of Gold) so you might be right.

Does anyone know ANYTHING at all about the rune changes?
I want to buy Yasuo and the other couple champions I don't own and I have 11k IP saved up so far but I'm worried I'm going to give in a buy a champ and then they'll announce changes and I'll need 30k to catch up with new best-in-slot runes and shit.

So, I have not played since end of November. I read a good amount of the patch thread 2 patches ago, but not so much the last patch thread. In general, what items are must-buys now? The rest I could probably get around myself.

Keep in mind that this info isn't the freshest, so they might have changed things a bit. There won't be "secondary" runes anymore. Marks will be offensive, seals will be defensive, and glyphs will be utility. Possiility of hybrid resist seals. A set of quints will be equal to a set of the lesser runes to avoid obscure minmaxing(I'm looking at you, attack speed.) Lifesteal, armor, and MR runes will be getting a nerf to allow for more options, though champions are supposed to be getting a bit tankier to make up for this.
