Don't be. If you fail, you will get another one.

In soloq you can definitely do this as well. its easier with a ward near the buff and a tp to get back into lane with full health. You won't win games without taking risks. if you are comming from blue side you have to walk all the way over the tribush and come from behind the redbuff. then with some luck and a smart ward you won't be seen.

Granted my team mates never follow through so we never end up littering the map with them.

I think over time the dot ward Pinks will become much less effective as people learn to check the bush more. But Pinks being cheaper now means it's not too big a deal even if they die after a few minutes.

But Pinks being cheaper now means it's not too big a deal even if they die after a few minutes. I feel like top is such a target lane for junglers that pinks aren't worth it. The only spots worth dropping in are high traffic areas so they'll be caught more often than dotbush, making them easy prey for junglers to show up, whack it down and then do their best The Clash impression. To make it worthwhile you need to be so far ahead that you can risk contesting it in a possible 1v2. Don't see it being worth it unless you upgrade to the pink ward trinket, but you might need that gold in real items more.

Pink ward lasts so long and gives so much benefit, too bad one person can only place one ward, and the team doesn't feel like buying pink wards. This is actually why i think i shouldn't be playing support atm. Previously i could cover for people who weren't warding enough as support but now with the hard 3 green/1 pink limit i simply cannot ward enough if the rest of the team isn't buying greens. The ward tokens don't provide enough vision until you have the chance to upgrade them to pinks... which no one does. So if i played something other than support i could ward more and so combined with whomever else supported we would have vision. On January 09 2014 03:58 Crusnik wrote: I need to study warding more, or maybe just play more jungle/support since I used to deep ward the enemy jungle ala Oddone whenever I jungled, 1-2 wards bought every back, now it's usually only 1-2 if I space ![]() One good way to make sure you buy more wards is to not get the ward trinket. Get the sweeper or the observer. Observer lets you scout counter ganks and sweeper lets you be effective for your lanes even if you fail to get a kill (since you have a chance of sweeping their wards. Plus, since you don't have a ward on your trinket you will be more likely to buy a real ward. IMO the observer is better for mid since mid will tend to be roaming and the enemy will know, roughly where you're roaming to/from even without wards and sweeper is better for jungle since junglers will want to deny vision more as a overall tactic. When you upgrade fully though, the sweeper option is really bad because the pink ward option pretty much dominates it. If you're trying to hold an area the pink ward is far more valuable even though you can only use it half the time. If you're moving through an area the pink ward is still probably better because you have less of a duration on the time you need to clear stuff. If you're using it to counter a stealth champion in a team fight they won't be able to waste 5 auto attacks on it anyway so the true vision on the seeker upgrade is worthless. The farsight trinket becomes pretty strong though. On January 09 2014 04:17 Alzadar wrote: Thoughts on Pink wards as a top laner? Once you get a tower down then I've tried pinking the buff, which is pretty strong. Pinks are great as a top since they give your jungler more freedom to use his pink elsewhere if he doesn't have to use it to protect his top side jungle. Pinks have a very asymmetric role depending on side. If you're purple you should be protecting your red at the red bush or the red invade bush. This holds your jungle well since mid and top and jungle (threatening) can come to defend it. A jungler should have pause for clearing a ward there because its easy to get collapsed on and harder for his team to collapse without showing their hand before the jungle makes his move. For blue side, pinks set up ganks from the gank bush and prevent the river entrance for the enemy jungler. Putting the pink at your blue isn't as valuable because its much harder to collapse on and much easier to sneak up on to take out (since you can't reach around the corner and still be in the bus now). This is precisely flipped from bottom lane, where purple has the gank advantage and blue has the red side jungle defense advantage. Also consider, if you can defend it, pinking the lane bush. It lasts forever and so you can use it to hold that space and set up lane ganks. This is especially strong as an ADC while still laning bottom lane, especially one that has a strong push/fight potential.
