Zed clears like a mofo as soon as he builds some AD and he's energy-based, Riven is "lol cooldowns" and can destroy them as soon as he drops them then shield whatever damage he has (she's all AoE so she can even damage him if he stands too close), and Kha'Zix has well enough damage with auto-Q or something to kill turrets early on and it costs very little mana.
I can see him being annoying, but these champions shouldn't be bothered in the slightest by the turrets post first back. ôo
Heimer absolutely destroys Khazix 1v1

Mind explaining how heimer is supposed to approach that matchup? It seems to a lot of us like he might have trouble vs. mobile damage.

I've been playing almost nothing but really heavy roaming/snowball mid laners lately (Riven, Lee Sin, Khazix, Zed). The champ that is by far giving me the most problems is heimerdinger. I can usually out farm the heimerdinger, but unless he really misplays it there's really not a lot of room to get aggressive on him it seems, so I have no chance to snowball off my lane. ON top of that he just sieges my tower and I dont really have a lot of opportunity to roam. I feel pretty helpless in these situations because the reason I play mid is to have a big impact on the game (I.E. turn around lanes that are losing really bad).
Any tips?
As a xerath main in gold, Heimer is joke to play against. Play passive till you get your first blue / mana items. Once the lane is post six- just nuke him, and his turrets again, and again. Your non W'd q outranges his turrets, once you can W more effectively its just a joke pushing him out of lane. He has zero counterplay against you- provided you can keep range and kite effectively.
Xerath has too much AOE, damage, and range for the non gap closing, short ranged hiem to deal with.

well I wouldn't approach Donger vs Kha6 any differently than any other Heimer MU. Alaric was thinking that Khazix can clear turrets fast with Auto Q but my experience from both sides of the matchup is that if he does that early levels when autoattacks & minion aggro still hurt (lvl 1-3) he can get zoned for the rest of the laningphase really really hard, especially when Heimer has 2+ turrets setup. It's not exclusive to Khazix, Donger shits on a lot of mids and as Dusty said if the jungler doesn't gank mid once because of "trololol heimerdinger" mentality, you might be in for a big surprise.
I think if zed uses Q to clear turrets (not even sure if a Q kills them...) he's gonna miss a lot of cs. Not sure about Riven because I always ban her (fuck that champ).
After laning phase those 3 are of course still gonna fuck Heimer up really hard unless they are way too far behind and if they catch you out of position.

beating Heimer? Q max annie 1 shot turrets for 0 mana annie doesn't need to max W to push in this match up because heimer can't push without turrets.
also annie has great gank support and heimers escape options are limited.

what would be the best way to pick them? based on role? based on AP or AD? based on looks/fun?
when I say 3 champs i literally mean only 3 no matter how many nerfs or buffs they take. I want to stay committed to them; Anyone got any ideas? Someone like Quinn would probably be a good idea since you'll need an ADC and she can top lane as well. I guess in general you'll want to pick uncommonly played champions so that there's a low chance of them being banned or picked away from you. when I wanted to narrow down my pool i wouldn't go for weird offensive niche champs but for flexible ones. You should be able to pick them often and they should be very solid and teamoriented: tanks/bruisers who can jungle and top: nasus, cho etc. supports who can lane with anyone decently: lulu, sona, janna etc. other champs who can swap position: zyra, morgana (mid/supp), swain, ryze (mid/top) etc. Also I would only pick champs who work in virtually any matchup and teamsetup and don't depend on my teammates or opponents picks. For example a champ without CC (yi) or a champ who gets easily counterpicked (kass) or a champ who needs a not so usual play style or position would all be no-go. basicly it all comes down to this question: Would you like those champions picked by your random teammates?
Yeah, but if you want to literally only play 3 champions, then Quinn is probably one of the best options.

Looking for a ranged mid to play in prep for next season. Deciding between Ahri, Lissandra, and Syndra. Thoughts?

Karthus/Ori/Anivia is what you should be playing!

Diaf if you even harbor the thought of playing Anivia.

Syndra, has the longest range of the three. Then I would probably say ahri, then liss. Liss really doesn't have any long range poke at all. (unless you count her q shattering on minions during the lane phase.) Howver beyond that, she has quite a short range.
I am really not that big of a fan of ahri / syndra. However I do play liss time to time. I feel that liss has better escape / mobility than the other two overall. Not to mention that the CC she can bring to the table is second to none.
