This should probably go in the QQ thread... but duos man fucking duos..... how is it they make your team that much worse than just have two separate random players on your team

Skin looks pretty amazing, I guess the disparity lies with "canon" skins vs silly skins. I don't have a preference either way so this one certainly interests me.

Duos have increased MMR for matchmaking purposes to account for the increased coordination they have

The problem is when you get duos that are not actually more coordinated than two randoms.

To match with Zilean you want the biggest lane bully high damage ADC you can get, like Draven or MF.

The thing about Zilean is that he has no hard CC, he can only get you in a situation where they have to fight you with his massive slow and haste. So you have to be able to win a straight up 1v1. You want to play Zil vs a lane with non-silly high sustain so his bomb harass can stick a bit, but also you want to not be against straight up aggressive (Leona etc) lane because you will lose the fight when you allin due to his low damage and CC.

If you want you can also just farm it out very safe and just rely on his utility and ult lategame being very strong.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

MF fell off cause playstyles changed from wanting big teamfight ad carries to ones that provide more control and/or mobility. She's still strong in the right team comps, though.

Vi was never really played professionally that much. Not entirely sure why, but I think a big part of it was that she was outshined by Hecarim when they were considered strong. She got nerfed a few times despite that and that probably accounts for her drop in solo q popularity.

But her ganks and skirmishing are what you pick her for since champs like Malphite can fulfill a similar role in teamfights in a far more efficient manner, and with better scaling in the late game.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

That's mostly the fault of her nerfs. She and Hecarim were actually fairly decent alternatives to the "low farm, supporty tank" jungle style that the meta now demands. Then they got nerfed, and the amount of farm they needed to function increased beyond what they could reasonably acquire while competing with the extremely self-sacrificial junglers that are popular today.

the problem with Vi was she really didn't need to be nerfed but release Vi really came with no compelling reason to ever level W past rank1 before you had to, if this game had stats levels like dota, that could have arguably been more powerful than leveling up her W past 1.

That is because Vi tries to do it with SOTAG + 1 ruby crystal, whereas Malphite does it with Sunfire+Randuins (plus kits obviously, even though for diving purposes her passive is just like Malphite's). Back before her nerfs, Vi did what Zed kinda does now in midlane: super reliable nearly infinite waveclear + very safe + kill potential, plus she abused League of Cleaver really well.

In any case, before her release every pro was like creaming themselves about her, which is why I said she was so overhyped.

Then the inhib respawns....making the nexus invulnerable. We notice and quickly start attacking the inhib, panic sets in and we switch back to the nexus. We get it down to 1/3 ealth but they have respawned and kill us.

Then my internet drops. I am out for 30 seconds, and my roommate is down for 2-3 minutes. When he comes back we say ok one more ace and we got this LOL.

Then they slaughter us and we lose.

Personally I think good stories like this where there is a lack of rage are worthy of the general discussion thread, but that is just me. I too have been trolled by those damn inhibitors, but never quite that bad.

A lot of the hype was justified though. She had insane burst and sustained damage with her W. Vi's engage and ability to lock down a target was really strong with her ult. The problem was that she was nerfed so that you need to get much more exp and farm to be useful, which is hard to come by in the jungle. At the same time, during the period before she got nerfed, Hecarim was arguably the stronger choice since Hec dealt just as much damage if not more and had a stronger engage since his ult was aoe.

Vi would probably have a place top lane, but she doesn't 1v2 well so the threat of a 1v2 lane keeps her from being played as a solo in competitive games. She's still a solid solo q pick for jungle or solo, though.
