The existence of a ranked mode creates a stigma around being rated and judged that results in a lot of people that pretty clearly hate the experience of playing solo queue games forcing it on themselves in order to get themselves rated. The QQ thread wouldn't be as large as it is if it people who didn't enjoy solo queue just chose not to play it.

Like, it makes no goddamn sense to me that there are all these players that only have terrible things to say about solo queue playing it all the time.

take Flame for example in the korean scene, he was a moderately ranked solo queue player. brought onto CJ, he spends 3 months with a team practicing and accelerates from the worst top player in pro korea to the best. It wasn't solo queue showing that he was in fact the best, it was his practice and play with his team.

solo queue means nothing and should be accepted as nothing but a fun mode you get to be ranked in. being good at solo queue =/= being good in a team game. HotshotGG has reached the top of solo queue before, it doesn't mean he's a better top laner than flame, who has not.

I agree the emphasis of LoL players toward solo Q is strange but it's a natural progression from Riot not offering any incentive or reason to play 5s for so long in my opinion, and I don't see it as likely to change anytime soon.
