Pretty sure he's been playing Top for FXO as of late.
I don't know how people would say Karma is bad. It's pretty easy to do well in lane in Karma (maybe not win, but do well). She's hard to gank if she's careful, and her damage is pretty damn good later on in the game. She offers a decent amount of utility as well.

I wonder if new Karma still fits into SGS's Shield comp.
I'm sure that Karma is strong in the right compositions. But the reason people think she's bad is because her win rates are still terrible and personally I've never seen a Karma in a game that did anything very note worthy. I've seen plenty of them feed or just do mediocre but I've yet to see a Karma do something that made me think, "wow now that is a pretty strong champion."
She's probably still a niche pick and/or people haven't really figured new Karma out yet. I will not let TL trick me into thinking that new Karma is hidden OP like they did with old Karma. At best she's very average.

To be completely fair it is possible that someone on TL is a really good Karma. Winrates just show that most people are not really good Karmas.

I've seen several karmas too, and they have all been unbelievably awful, I don't know what about karma people find mystifying. I mirror laned vs a karma who just didn't use Q or mantra.....also people opening sorc boots into NLR. Congrats, your one spell every 3 minutes hits like a truck.

The thing with Karma is that you need to know how to work WITH her. She has a hell of a lot of utility.
I can't tell you how many times I've gone to initiate a gank mid with my W, but the jungler just backs away because they don't realize there is a root at the end of the W duration. Or how many times people stop a chase because they don't realize I have a locket + shurelia + damage on a very short CD.
