Time sure does fly. Only two months ago, we witnessed history as MakNooN led his NaJin Sword team to a surprising 3-0 sweep of AZUBU Frost in the grand finals held at the Hanyang University Gymnasium. With sports, the off-season leads to much discussion on how what moves teams make over the period, with much debate from the general population. League of Legends in Korea is of no exception to this. Teams disbanded, formed, reshuffled and even moved organizations over the past two months.

AZUBU ended their relationship with the Blaze-Frost duo of teams, where they found a new home with the renowned KeSPA organization CJ Entus. NaJin completely revamped their Shield team after a string of disappointing results, and last season's Cinderella team GSG found a new home with MVP. As for the rest, the influx of new teams shall be covered in the power ranking for this season below.

Play time is over for the teams now. It's time to get those nightcaps off and get serious. With qualifiers concluding and OLYMPUS coming back to sponsor another season, come this Wednesday night, OnGameNet welcomes you to the Korean Spring season.

Signing off,
GTR

[image loading]KT Rolster
+ Show Spoiler +

KT Rolster premiered in the OGN Winter Season League of Legends tournament, and the organization had a very good start. Both KT teams remained undefeated in the group stages and advanced to the next round, but the clean record ended with a teamkill in the quarter-finals.

After a weak performance semi-finals match, KT B was halted by the eventual Winter Champions, Najin Sword. Still, in just their first OGN season, KT B dominated the group stage and went on to convincingly claim 3rd place against Azubu Blaze. They have since acquired one of the best Junglers of OGN Winter, the former CJ Entus Insec. KT Rolster B stands as one of the biggest challenges to Najin Sword’s throne.

KT A is called the weaker KT Rolster team; nonetheless they are still very capable of beating other top-tier Korean teams. With the acquisition of former KT B jungler KaKAO, they will gain experience and stability, becoming even stronger.

[image loading]Najin e-mFire
+ Show Spoiler +

Najin e-mFire is one of the oldest and strongest teams in Korea. At least one Najin team has reached the knockout rounds in each OGN season.

Najin Sword are the reigning Olympus Champions Winter League winners and are therefore a huge favorite for the upcoming spring season. It remains to be seen if they can successfully defend their title – a feat yet accomplished in OGN history.

Najin Shield did not qualify for the knockout rounds in the last season. Because of this poor placement and the health issues of their Jungler Mokuza, Najin Shield has remodeled their roster. NoFe, Locodoco and Save join Najin Shield in preparations for the upcoming Spring league. The new roster debuted in the Gigabyte StarsWar league and managed to take 3rd. However, they displayed some obvious, unresolved communication issues. Najin Shield thus remains one of the weaker teams this season.

[image loading]CJ Entus
+ Show Spoiler +

CJ Entus underwent a huge organization change after the winter season. They scrapped their old lineup and acquired the ex-Azubu teams, Blaze and Frost. With these two powerhouse rosters, CJ Entus is poised to win the Spring League.

CJ Entus Frost is the League of Legends “King of Silver.” They have been in every final of the OGN league yet and thus have the skills, knowledge and experience to reach the finals again. Despite a new AD Carry, with Hermes replacing Woong, Frost remains a big favorite for the Olympus Champions Spring 2013.

CJ Entus Blaze hold the most first place finishes of any Korean team, reinforced by additional success in foreign tournaments. Recently they have struggled slightly in adapting to the Season 3 changes and shown weakness in the scene; nonetheless they are a strong team with plenty of experience. As they adapt to Season 3, they remain strong contenders for the Spring League.

[image loading]SK Telecom T1
+ Show Spoiler +

SKT T1 Team 1 is a relatively new team and this will be their first OGN appearance. The team had a perfect debut at IEM Cologne, securing first place. However, they have been unable to reproduce such results, losing in the semi-finals to CJ Blaze at IEM World Championship, and furthermore placed especially poorly in StarsWar League.

SKT T1 Team 2 was formed just weeks before the start of the Spring League. They managed to qualify for the last spot over an amateur team. SKT T1 Team 2 is one of the weakest teams in the Spring league – they have no experience and have yet to show anything special.

[image loading]LG-IM
+ Show Spoiler +

LG-IM recently established a second team to improve their skills through a strict practice regime. LG-IM Team 2 failed to qualify for the Spring League in a close match against SKT T1 Team 1.

LG-IM 1 used the off-season to travel to IEM Sao Paulo. At Sao Paulo they were the favorite and won the tournament, qualifying for IEM World Championships. However at the World Championship they placed in the midfield, where they seem to belong.

[image loading]MVP
+ Show Spoiler +

MVP was another team with big roster changes. Three members of GSG, a fan favorite team, joined MVP Blue. MVP White is now MVP Ozone. The new MVP team looked strong at OGN Club Masters, taking first place.

MVP Ozone has big potential this season. Although not a fan favorite, they are definitely capable of producing upsets and becoming Champions. However, their ability to play consistently at their highest level remains untested.

MVP Blue are the dark horse of Champions Spring 2013. They have unconventional picks and have already shown as an amateur team that they can compete with the professionals. Now that they are playing in a pro team, they can grow even further. Watch out for fabulous plays – MVP Blue is not to be underestimated.

[image loading]ahq e-Sports Club Korea
+ Show Spoiler +
A Taiwanese organization has, for the first time, created a squad to compete in Korea. However, only Hoon has previous Korean pro-scene experience; the rest of his team are amateurs, yet to play their first televised match. Hoon must guide them if they want to win and produce any results.

Korean teams are looking ridiculous right now. Between individual player skill, their teamwork, and the crazy fucking strats they pull-off, I'm more hyped than I have been for an eSports tournament than I have been in a long time. You're right that it's going to be a close season -- and an insane one. Can't wait to see MVP Cheese shake things up with their stupid bullshit :D

Make sure to keep this thread bumped too, guys http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=36321934#post36321934

These power rankings seem like they were made by a Silver V NA player who only watches MLG and Dreamhack tournaments.

Absolutely no real research into them. I mean, MVP blue 8th? What Korean league are you watching dude?

Even the professional players seem to have varying opinions on the issue. No one can make one of these lists without looking quite stupid when they turn out to be wrong. However, that won't stop me from trying out.

1. SK Telecom T1 2: I just picked this team because I don't want KT Rolster B to win, it seems too obvious an answer.
2. KT Rolster B: Many people's favourite to win.
3. CJ Entus Blaze: A solid team that will die at the hands of KT Rolster B.
4. MVP Blue: The darkhorse pick of many professionals, but won't win.

5. CJ Entus Frost: CJ Entus Frost will be broken by any team that knows the obvious limitations of CloudTemplar.
6. KT Rolster A: Doen't quite pack the punch to break into the top four.
7. Najin Shield: Will get knocked out at the round of eight, their mid-laner will be their downfall.
8. SK Telecom T1: Will get shut down once they are heavily researched.

9. Najin Sword: Slow start to the group, too bad their group is loaded.
10. MVP Ozone: Unlucky to be in the grouup of death. Homme will struggle against superior top-laners, and Dade will not have the mental fortitude to perservere.
11. LG IM: Even at their strongest, they had poor co-ordination, and their solo-que style of play shall be their demise.
12. ahq Korea: I don't forsee a bright future for this team.

Wait Woong is gone from CJ? Wow, thought he was the captain, and if he did get replaced, he'd just get benched.

Not that I'm complaining, just surprised he left the team all together.

I think you have no idea what are you posting?!

If you had read what I wrote about MVP Blue then you would know that I value them high but you need to take a look at their results. And Its not overwhelming. I have high hopes for MVP Blue.
Next time please read what I wrote before you write something which is clearly wrong

The thing is, this isn't the NA scene, where being less than 4th in a power rank means you're a pretty weak team. With so many teams with incredible results and proven strength, it's hard to justify ranking relatively unproven team higher than what they got. (I might put them above LG-IM, though, especially with a vacancy in their team. But that's such a minor change I can't exactly tear down the whole power ranking over it.)

8th on a power rank also doesn't mean a prediction they will get 8th place in the tournament either. That's what a dark horse is - we are predicting them to rise above this rank.

I really dislike the tone of the writing that depicts SK Telecom T1 2 as nothing but an unproven team. It's one thing to be untested at the highest level, but to disregard the opportunity to rate one of the hottest up-and-coming teams is quite disappointing to say the least. Their qualification rounds saw them stomp the highest rated amateur team in Korea without breaking a sweat. Of course, the difference between amateur teams and professional teams are growing by the minute, but surely the heroics of GSG against established professional teams in the NLB must be fresh in the minds of many followers of the Korean LoL scene.

The team is already being mentioned as being one of the monstrous during practice, and players such as Faker, Piglet, and bengi may be unknown in the professional realm, but these guys are creme de la creme of the solo-que world, and are individually no inferior to many of the professionals already in the scene. Imp, one of the highest rated AD carries of Korea has already mentioned that SK Telecom T1 2's bottom lane may be the strongest in Korea right now. Hell, the current AD carry for CJ Entus Frost, Hermes, is one of the reject try-outs for the SK Telecom T1 2's AD carry role.

This team deserves more hype, and I feel this power ranking has failed to do so. Of course, a team this inexperienced may just crash and burn considering the strength of their group, but there's a reason why many people are expecting this team to do well this season.

Yeah maybe weakest team was a bit harsh but in terms of results proven. They are the weakest one.I know well about the potential of SKT T1 #2 but they need to show it against professional teams. I know that they have the soloQ stars.
I rated nervousness and not much team experience higher than rumors.

But we will see if they can become a second gsg. Somewhere I need to decide who is who. It just shows even more how close the Korean Scene in skill is.

How is Frost ranked 4th, even though they no longer use Woong? They are easily 1st IMO.
