I really can't say much about whether or not league went through the 3 carry comp, but we did definite did have a 4-prot-1 (ie protect the kog) for a good while, before the koreans brought in their hyper aggressive push comp (lulu/graves or 2v1 for tower advantage that we see now). That's more of what i was referring to.
4-1 Was always a comp (still is), but I never considered it a Core meta. The only time I even remember it being banned out was in ` tournament against 1 team.
As an aside, I just saw the Taric nerfs. Makes me ask the question: Taric too strong? Or every single other support nerfed over the last year+?

Imagine 2 froggens on the same team. Snoopeh wouldn't be able to buy even a midgame item until 30+ mins in.

People (casuals) whine so much on the forums about "OP champs", that would certainly increase if a really "OP" champion wasn't patched in several months.
Like rengar and diana? Took forever for Rengar to be nerfed. Yet I almost never saw him in my games as he was difficult to snowball and it usually came down to bans. I feel these instances needed several months to determine if they were OP.

OGN Club Masters is live now!

Blitz shen are fine IMO cuz they completely change the way the game is played, and most of the time you dont want to deal with that.
Which is why Nid deserves a ban.

i ban nid so my team can't pick her

People will whine about things regardless. The issue isn't whining, but whether it actually affects peoples' spending/playing habits, which i really doubt it does.

Hell, Singed almost makes that list.

Yes, League of Legends do undergo similar thought processes in terms of meta, and a few of the points are quite similar
Both games underwent a period of plentiful vision and superior lategame scaling, which meant a emphasis towards lategame protect the super-hard carry, DotA had tp counterganks to keep people safe by towers while LoL has towers hit for infinity damage, both of which promote more passivity. However, once these issues were worked around (tp counterganks on cd and multiple tps to the same location are slowed in DotA and people figuring out how to work around tower aggro and 3v1 collapses), the early game became a lot more aggressive. Another parallel is the nerf on ez/roflcoptor/gunbro and buffing certain brusiers/armor pen allowing for lineups that just run at you and kill you (aka facerush), which is very reminiscent of DotA in early 2011, both metas are constantly in flux, and the DotA influence, both on purpose and subconsciously, are quite strong, specifically in the Chinese meta, where many of the top players today were ex-DotA pros/semipros.
However at the end of the day, the way that LoL champs are designed and balanced will always make the LoL meta feel "murkier" the way that fewer champions "change the way the game is played" the way say blitz or nidalee does, as well as Riot's hands-on constantly tinkering approach means that no style is likely to emerge dominant at any period, and different teams can play different styles and be reasonably valid. On the other hand, this is a double edged sword since the scene is essentially being dragged around by Riot, who often make changes that can be perceived as misguided and gamebreaking while being unfair to certain teams and playstyles in their essentially monthly major balance tweaks and new champions (who are, more often than not, overpowered).

Why is Tresh a banworthy champ? He reponds very poorly to pressure in the lane and he cant change a teamfight like blitz can... Or have I just been playing with and against poor treshes?
|
i think thresh is very very good and is a "relatively sleeper" op right now. once everyone has gotten more exposure to thresh (get to know his kit and his approx ranges) i think he will be picked much more often.
|
I think that will definitely change with this weeks LCS; several teams have already said that they think Thresh is sleeper op and that they cannot wait to play him.
|
Thresh also loses a lot of his strenght if teammates don't use the lantern, which no one does...
|
Not to mention the box slows so hard it may as well be a J4 ult.
Only your teammates can move through it, so there isnt as much trolololool.

Thresh's kit is tremendous at all phases of the game. The problem is making sure you don't miss Flay. Death Sentence has a weird windup (compared to Blitz Hook, for example) but you get used to it after a couple games.

I think he *is* OP. His Q CCs way too long, E is spammable, and that R.... gosh.
