Honestly it's so hard to evaluate Atma's, because it's not effective unless it is already in late game, and in late game I feel itemization is not as important (especially for bruisers) as the actual teamfight.

According to the wiki Atma's is cost efficient at 1083 HP. Which is fairly early in the game. And it was originally designed for ad carries in mind but was nerfed due to it being too good on bruisers. If they changed it to a flat 30 AD instead of % health it would be a great item but even still its good on anyone who uses crit.

when i think about items in dota, they're so good.
take manta style. in LoL terms it gives you health, health regen, mana regen, mana, AS, AD, MS, armor, illusions + a partial cleanse or projectile dodger.

i guess there's trinity force but manta style has way more utility.

now with that said, when most of your items like that, it's nearly impossible to build glass cannon because a lot of your good items are all like that. with lol it's like... ok, IE/PD, there's next to no survivability on those items. even on other items like MKB there's some utility with the minibash.

there's also the existence of farming items (bfury, hotd, radiance) that you can get. so even if you do decide to start daedalus/buriza as first item, there's the possibility you will get it later than a carry with a farming item.

sure would be funny if we just renamed AD carry to glass cannon. "hi i play glass cannon for team solo logic."

i don't think that we'll ever see glass cannon melee, but even then, we've all seen irelias, jaxes, rivens that literally carry the game.

i don't know what i'm trying to say. maybe to say that lol's terminology sucks, haha.

It's a bit misleading to list the HP and mana regen as selling points on Manta when they're 0.3/sec and 0.4/sec respectively.

Because they just happen to be secondary bonuses to the main stats you get on the item (str, int). It doesn't actually say it provides hp and mana regen on the item.

cuz passive scaling in dota is a bit bonkers.

As an example, when A-M maxed his E, it's equivalent for him to having +100MR, in a game where you can't itemize MPen.

And his Q is basically a +40AD permanent steroid coupled with a mana burn. Which becomes +120 with a Manta thanks to the illusions.

Without any items, he already has big tankiness + damage + mobility.

if we define melee carries are bruisers who do a lot of sustained damage we've seen tons of top lanes who carry teams after becoming juggernaught mode.
ad carries arent even that glass cannon any more, add in auras like tarics and jarvans and runes and dblades and warmogs and suddenly a fed ad carry is only slightly less tanky than a less farmed jungle/top
i dont think LoL's terminology sucks, I think people are just looking at it wrong. In solo queue I always see people appreciate fed bruisers and assassins as far more important then the ad to focus sometimes and I never see anyone building people full squishy because "they're melee carry". Sometimes people do it but its never with that kind of justification. People usually dont go full damage though because I usually backfires nowdays and people pick up on that fast.

no, LoL terminology does suck a lot. I talked about it in the previous thread and it was about 9 line post so I don't really feel like fully repeating myself, but the main problems are the terms carry/support, because many people mean many different things so no one really knows what is anyone talking about.

cost efficient =! slot efficient.

Also, you need to find bruisers than could use crit effectively.

Hmm, well Uzi is back on AD, but either everyone else is on smurfs, or Royal went through some major roster changes.

EDIT: Commentator says its their main team. Looks like they changed their mind about the role swap.
