If there was a persistent Tourney Realm, or some way to change toons without having to COMPLETELY relevel and regear (which takes months) in order to be competitive, it might compete with LoL for most popular eSport still. Well, that and being balanced exclusively for PvP- I have no idea why they never broke arena off into its own game. Unfortunately, changing toons is incredibly prohibitive and time-consuming so I'm sticking with LoL. Yeah, I'd love to play some more Shatterplay, RLS, or Shadowplay games but I'm not going to take the 8 months to level and gear my Lock, Shaman, Mage, Warrior... man, LoL has such a better system for switching characters.

Forum quality tends to decrease with size because bad/shit-posters act as echo chambers. In a small forum there aren't enough of them to really cause many problems, but as a forum grows the echo effect increases. Eventually you reach critical mass and the good posts get overwhelmed in a broadcast storm of stupid. It takes extremely draconian measures and an incredibly proactive mod staff (SEE: Elitist Jerks) to maintain the quality of discussion in a larger forum. We're unlikely to be allowed to take things that far here, so when/if the forum expands dramatically you can expect a lot less "Seuss and TheYango discuss the cost effectiveness of Aegis versus Locket in a myriad of teamfight scenarios" and more "XxXTEEMOTAUNTXxX asks what the timer for Baron is for the 43,135,834th time".

Coz if you go at the top than you can play playoffs until you pass through? Additionally, can you fall down from your division when you reach the bottom? do you play playoffs to stay in it? Answer to my question, guess its usefull for u 2

Being a super weird kid in high school, it was amazing to retreat into this crazy world that I knew nothing about. Finding people around the world, jumping into vent before logging in, knowing I'd have people to talk to/hang out with. I made the poor decision of leveling a priest from 1-60 as holy spec. Good lord was it slow going, but I loved healing. 40 man raids were amazing. Staying up til 3 or 4 am, knowing I'd be fucked for school in the morning but not caring. Getting yelled at by my parents for still being awake. My guild never progressed very far in content, but good lord I loved hanging out with those guys. The only thing I really liked after vanilla was Kharazan, and that was just because it was such a clever dungeon. I certainly miss that feeling of discovery and novelty, but I know I can never go back. I tried Cataclysm for a little bit and hated it. They torched the whole server community feel and tight-knit play that I loved back in the day. I started with BC. Started raiding when BT hit live. BC was the best experience for me, along with Ulduar. Farming Rage Winterchill because we couldn't get further than that with our gear, and only getting 2/3 bosses down in SSC/TK. Karazhan was a marvelous place with tons of great stuff for beginning raiders. The perfect entry-level raid. Sunwell was great but I had less time when that hit, and along with the really high difficulty it made things less interesting. When WotLK came I raided Ulduar and that was simply awesome. Great lore, epic feel, hard bosses if you want better loot with interesting mechanics. I remember us accidentally pushing XT-002 into hardmode and wiping with one of our first raids. WotLK had a few really good raids, but Naxx was too easy and CC was boring. ICC was cool, but a bit of a letdown for me. One of the biggest villains dies. Sartharion was loads of fun, especially in hardmode. Malygos was interesting. The heroics were a bit too easy but still well tuned if you wanted the achievs, which we did. I started playing when Cataclysm hit live (free 30 day sub with Cata activated so I could try it), but the appeal was gone. I have never felt the urge to go back again either. It just didn't felt like old times anymore.

I have absolutely 0 interest in WoW, and minimal interest in mmorpg's to begin with, but even I know that there's a good deal of theory-crafting and number-crunching that goes into WoW at the higher levels, two qualities that are decidedly not casual. edit: if this was an ironic comment meant to satirize the current situation with league and dota players, then sorry, hard to detect sarcasm on the internets :/

The elo rating was so simple and straightforward. I don't think that the new system is worse but it's just insanely convoluted. The video is six minutes long and you actually need that together with a bunch of graphs to explainit. Also why not give players the choice to see their elo? I feel babied by Riot. I can handle the hard truth about how much I suck, mommy.

I can handle the hard truth about how much I suck, mommy. If people could see their own Elo you would still have trolls in Champ Select claiming they have a high elo trying to get first pick. If it's not visible they can't pretend its high.
