Starting Long Sword + 2 pots is entirely viable because there's no longer a 50 movespeed difference, and Long Sword now builds into many useful items for both bruisers and AD carries.


I think the most important one is the vamp scepter. It's only a 400g upgrade so you're pretty much guaranteed to get it on your first back. All together it's 50g cheaper than a LS+Vamp is currently. That takes care of your lane sustain, so you can work on other stuff. I wouldn't be surprised to see vamp+phage as a standard opening on the triforce carries and bruisers. Pretty much the same as a triple dblade build if a bit pricier, but you get the phage effect. It has a LOT of build options too.

Do the changes make it worthwhile to start running penetration marks / quints on your AD carries? I'd imagine that they become that much better once you actually get a % penetration item, but your last hitting is also that much worse. Is it worth the tradeoff now?


Starting boots is actually, in my experience, a mixed bag. With 25 movespeed baked into everyone's base, boots don't make nearly as much of a difference as they used to. Starting Long Sword + 2 pots is entirely viable because there's no longer a 50 movespeed difference, and Long Sword now builds into many useful items for both bruisers and AD carries.

But yes, penetration runes are definitely strong due to the mechanics change. Unless you're going to deal a lot of mixed damage early, they'll be a good choice. Some people may prefer AD Quints for easier last hitting, and that's fine, but stacking Flat Penetration with % is extremely strong seeing as how Armor/MR are more expensive for less effect.


Are you saying that the "stronger jungler even with less kills/assists" plan that Riot set out is going to exist or that S3 junglers will probably be just as good as S2. While the PBE was always troll city for me, I experienced jungle as:

Weaker for first 5-10 mins, equal thereafter. The only difference for me is what champs seemed good in the jungle, my lee sin seemed much weaker, for instance.

You don't control the bolts so they can hit jungle creeps, minions, and enemy tanks. They do 50% of your damage and they don't apply crits. It'll almost definitely be an item you get late game as you don't get any crit chance from it and while 70% AS is crazy good I don't know if the passive and 70% AS is worth 2750g until you have nearly full build. It seems like it'd be a third or fourth damage item that you'd probably have to delay for your defensive item.

Super late game this item will be strong. Early and mid game on most AD carries it'll be kind of a silly buy and probably won't be picked up. Considering all of the other new items it's hard to tell how late game fights will play out with Hurricane.

yeah that is pretty much the exact impression i get from the changes, riot once again claiming to buff jungle farm and expand the pool of viable junglers while doing pretty much the opposite, then giving jungle gold/exp a slight buff to placate the inevitable complaints.

Yeah it's definitely a late game item, but considering that most of the defining battles are fought around baron (only champs to hit), it's going to be stupidly strong. Not to mention you get lifesteal from all shots which incentivises building flat AD (BT).

It's certainly not a go to item on all ranged AD, but on the champs that it synergises with, it's going to be insane.

In the late game it'll be good on pretty much everyone. I'm sure full six item build this thing might even become mandatory no matter what AD carry you're playing. By late game most games are already decided and items like the new Ohmwrecker should help to end games a bit earlier by making turtling less effective. I just don't agree with the idea that the Hurricane will somehow break the game or make AD carries anymore overpowered than they already are. They shine in the late game, this item doesn't improve their mid game, so I don't really see it as breaking anything.

i havent looked at many of the other items, but i dont think spirit stones will be very good at all, theyre all too pricy and dont give enough vs champions

the golem stone would be a rough start early on tank junglers trying to use a machete, imagine maokai holding a machete he would prolly just cut himself by accident. good transition though if you plan on never ganking at all ever

the lizard stone sucks usually since lots of the melee junglers dont benefit much from ad, and the ones who do are bruisers who require tank items (noc, darius) and cant spend their first 2.4k gold on 50 ad and a red buff thing

the wraith one looks good but theres only like one legit ap jungler in the game anyway, two if you count diana i guess

i think wriggles will stay optimal on most melee junglers like nocturne, o and also machete sucks d on most people it would only work on champs that dont need it anyway like ww, nunu and fid who can just start boots like always

also what about manaless junglers lol? the lizard stone could be good on riven/lee but mana regen gg and also hp regen very mediocre on those champs

Can anyone who've played on PBE tell me how far the extra bolts on Hurricane go? If "nearby targets" mean the targets have to be almost stacked on top of each other, I don't think it'll be that game changing.

Will those bolts be able to all hit the champion that you're auto-attacking (if there are no other targets nearby)?
It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it.

Well the tank spirit stone gives a really nice combination of stats for early-mid game. Only bad part is that the giants belt is going to be a real pain to save for. Most of the time right now I find myself backing at like 5-600g to buy a ruby crystal + a ward unless I got a kill/assist.

TBH on noct I'm somewhat tempted to start machete, get a vamp+boots, and then decide from there(~8-10 minutes) whether I want to build wriggles or tank spirit stone+->hydra sometime later.

I've played a few games on the PBE and the new jungle doesn't feel all that new. Honestly I think the gods of the new jungle will be pretty much what we're used to.

One thing I'm sure of is that Cho'Gath jungle will be even more popular. He had a big showing at IPL5 and is picking up steam. Movespeed quints and utility masteries will put him at a comparable movespeed to boots + 3 pots champs (around 380~), and the extra gold from utility will allow him to do some great openers like machete + flask and machete + 2 wards + 2 hp pots.

Besides Cho I think Skarner, Olaf, Nocturne, Maokai, and Lee Sin will still be strong
