But the interesting thing is that wards have icons on the minimap now. Vision wards and Sight wards have different icons too, so you know what's where (compared to Caitlyn's/Nidalee's traps, for example). So Syndra destroys harder than, say, Cass with a Muramana. Wow, that must be some hilarious burst. | ||

I don't have a hard time believing it. Flat pen got a lot better with the S3 patch. If it's true, you'd only ever take AD runes if you have a hard time csing for some reason. | ||

First off, it's incredibly fruitless to specify "ArPen runes" and not specify whether you mean marks or quints. Marks are much more slot-efficient compared to AD than quints are. ArPen runes are worse than they ever were for low levels. The actual value of ArPen provided by runes got reduced--the only benefit now is that they stack better with % pen effects, but those don't become significant until higher armor values and more % pen effects in play. ArPen at low levels more or less always exceeded AD in champion fighting ability apart from the scenario where either your AD was too low, or the enemy's armor value meant your ArPen dropped them to 0 (basically doesn't happen since everyone takes Armor seals). Also, Muramana Syndra would be scarier if she had any single target abilities that weren't her ult. Still, 2000+ raw damage from one ability is pretty scary. Combine with DFG for lulz. Edit: Penetration runes can become late-game relevant if you're one of the select champions with some form of built in % Penetration or Reduction. Xerath is one of the obvious abuse cases. With Sorc's+Guise+Void he can bypass up to ~84 MR, but throw in 20 Penetration from Quints/Marks/Glyphs and that shoots up to ~140 MR. | ||

Pre-patch Brutalizer gives 20 pen, marks gave 15 (1.66*9) more, dropping them to 65. After the 10% mastery, they have ~59 effective armor. Post-patch, the percentage is applied first, dropping them to 85. Then you apply the nerfed brutalizer (15) and flat marks (12), dropping the effective armor to 58. Not a huge difference, but when you factor in stuff like brutalizer actually building into decent items and tanks generally having more than 100 armor, it's a pretty significant buff. edit: math is off | ||
