There is a way to have multiple inbound/outbound connections on a single commercial router and route traffic based on various metrics, but when it comes to application-specific traffic I'm not sure if you can. Iirc there is a consistent port that's used for outgoing League traffic, so you could maybe configure the router to map traffic on that certain port out the specific Internet connection you want. It's been awhile since my CCNA/CCNP. It's also possible to have multiple connections going into a single PC, but I don't know about configuring League to specifically use one. Certainly you could set up Skype / IRC to use a proxy to try and mask your IP that way; I recall some pro players do use proxies (and may be why DDoSing affects certain teams less than others), but I don't know if CLG uses one. Since I'm taking security+ right now, I'll chime in that I believe having a 2nd IP would be set up and organized by the ISP to put all port traffic (in this case, whatever port LoL uses) on just the "extra" ip. Not sure what extra work would have to be done w/ their router, but if the gaming house wanted to pay for a business plan, I'm sure the ISP would help them. It's hard to really give more concrete input since saying "ddos" attack is so vague. But there's certainly plenty that the gaming houses can do. I think the bigger issue has to do with the antithetical relationship between security and the type of lives that young and usually immature progamers have.

As for ward placement, I see pro players ward the mid lane side bushes sometimes, and other times wraiths or the bush nearer blue buff. I'm not sure I understand the thought process behind why these better players decide to ward where they do, anyone have some insight?

I usually get a ward every time I back, but should I be keeping both sides of my lane warded at ideally all times? I'm not sure I understand the thought process behind why these better players decide to ward where they do, anyone have some insight? I buy two wards on every back. Generally one for wraiths and one for the banana bush. If it's not safe enough to venture that far alone, I'll ward side bushes. Wraiths/banana bush gives generally better and early vision than side bushes would.
