I was hovering around gold before the reset, and now im at 1141 elo :/
I don't like this reset, every game I get a player who either massively feeds or trolls the shit out of the team. Realize that between Elo compression from the reset and the huge swings that accompany placement matches things will be pretty random for a while. Focusing on your Elo at the moment is pretty pointless. it's never entirely not pointless, elo, due to it's inherent randomness of teammates, never directly equates to skill if you become a better player, your elo will increase (if you suddenly stop playing) eventually, so as long as you focus on fixing/improving your game play short term wins and/or losses shouldnt matter if you feel that you're playing well When you reach certain thresholds in Elo and the season there are reasonable judgements one can make about one's Elo and how it reflects on your ability as a player. While it's true that most players overemphasize Elo, ignoring it entirely can also be a fault. Right now just happens to be the best time to ignore it, because three straight wins for one player and three straight losses for another can bring together people who were 600 Elo apart at the end of Season 2. That doesn't even take into account the compression as everyone was pushed towards 1200. Possibly even further elo gaps heh. I am 5-3 so far in placements O_o just hoping to not put myself in a hole early on.
Getting dropped a ton of games due to trolls is actually amazing. Eventually you get so low it's almost impossible to fuck up.
Last game I was Trist with cata rush Janna support, Lee getting dunked top by Darius, brain dead Maokai, and an Ori that let the other teams Kat rape her and roam bot constantly to camp me with their Shen.
Despite all that I still out cs'd their ashe, penta'd their team and carried to victory while spending over half my time raging in chat.

Okay, that I agree with. Still I like that they are making a concerted effort to have casters for as many games as possible. That and we won't have the MLG problem of them just straight up not steaming some games.
Edit 2: Okay, I concede having foreign language casts as a means to improve viewership on an international scale is better than having all of the games casted in English. Guess that was kind of an egocentric point of view. At the end of they day I'll probably only end up watching one game at a time anyway.

Some of us understand foreign language casts (might even be in mother tongue). But having Chinese/Korean casters at an event with CN/KR teams would also help expand the viewer base to local and regional supporters of those teams.

People generally use elo the wrong way. Elo is a great self analysis tool since it basically never lies to you. You lie to yourself all the time. Just because you were X elo at S2 doesn't mean you are losing because of random teammates. You might be playing different roles or champs for example and your level might have dropped.
Playing to get elo is what is toxic and causes you to rage and enjoy games less and also make you get worse at the game. This is because games are played under the assumption you are already good enough to win the game and you are just basically grinding out the hours to get to your "true elo" and every time you lose 1 game you suddenly "have" to win 2 more to get higher and then if you lose again it gets frustrating. Thats why everyone should do the reverse. Use elo for self analysis and games to improve. Instead of using games for elo and games for self analysis ("teammates fed, couldn't do anything" when if you played better in the first place the game might not have snowballed )

Always thought it's weird how much people complain about the OGN/GOM/WEM English casters when the western counterparts don't even have Asian casters.

Interesting, Quantic is having Nien play AD and Wild Turtle play AP in the IPL5 qualifier. One of WildTurtle's biggest issues mid is his champion pool, but I guess if they want to run one of those champs he's good at (Ryze, Gragas, TF) there's nothing wrong with them swapping roles.

aphromoo said this on stream today and it really stuck to me: ''when i play soloq i try to have as much fun as possible, and it also happens to be that when im having fun i tend to win more games''
|
Why else would you be playing this game if not to have fun? Don't really get that at all. If you need a streamer to explain that to you
|
its really easy to lose track and i think it happens to most people who try to take this game seriously eventually (from experience and analysis)

Chauster making some big plays against Quantic. Spellsheilding a trap during a dive in order to secure a kill, was some really nice play. If Loco and DLift can find the chemistry that DLift and Chauster have then CLG.na could potentially be quite scary.
...Aaaanddd CLG.na are all dc'd. Standard

aphro's quote is also emotional fluff that appeals to many but actually has very little effect on your own performance.
|
Well as soon as you don't enjoy what you do you aren't going to be able to really be "your best" at it. So it's counter productive to be "serious" yet not enjoy it.

...Aaaanddd CLG.na are all dc'd. Standard Yeah, Chauster is looking really solid in the jungle, more productive than Hotshot anyway. Speaking of Hotshot, he still needs to expand his champ pool a little bit, but all in all they are looking much stronger than they did with Voy.

Some people have fun in different ways. Some have fun playing to win with 100% fire at all times, some have fun screwing around, some have fun trying to 'make plays.' Truth is there is a 1000 different ways to enjoy LoL and if you enjoy playing one way, then play that way...its a game -> have fun.
Though by my logic that justifies trolling if someone enjoys it...so my logic may not be the best.....

most importantly, it lets you keep a clear head and not lose your composure in the long run, also allowing you to play a lot of games in a row(something that pros have to do) today i tried to have as much fun as possible and honestly i feel like i played better than when i was being super hard at myself and my team

clg getting ddos raped again
