I've been trying to learn Vlad lately to expand my top selection (and maybe mids). The one thing that I've noticed: Fuck anyone who has a gap closer, they make my life hell and I spend pretty much 1-9 hugging my tower and pooling.

you want chalice now. with DFG nerf there is no other to get CDR outside of building CDR boots or morello's both of which aren't very good
i don't think chalice means you have to use ap blues either. theres nothing wrong with having mr blues and chalice. you can also skip the dorans completely in lane matchup where you don't need the hp

always boots. it takes a long time for a dorans shield ot give you as much HP regen as 3 potions and you take tons of free damage form not having boots

The point of DShield isn't for the HP regen, its so you get lots of eHP from the OP armor/hp stats so that way Riven doesn't 100-0 you with 3 spells.

Yea boots is pretty much mandatory first item now. A few months ago everyone jungled like Warwick and you could get away with not having boots :/

It doesn't suddenly incentivize (I'm pretty sure that's not a word though) them to come help fight off invasion and counter jungling (most laners will just continue CSing even if you start fighting the other jungler in your own jungle), it doesn't make their ganks or setups better. It's not a teamwork building exercise, it's just something mid players know they have to do at the start of the match to avoid being bitched out. It won't stop them from raging at you if your gank fails or if they get camped.
It is teamwork, not on a grand scale but certainly on a small one. It may be begrudgingly given, without understanding, and only due to social pressure, but that's exactly what I was getting at with my "please" and "thank you" analogy. Leashing is not in and of itself a magic pill which transforms trolls and tribunal cases into paragons of virtue, teamwork, and game theory. It is part of the environment which, in aggregate with many other factors, helps new players become veterans.

Honestly, they need to change something in regards to Boots first. There is little to no reason not to do it (except Support).
