If you have condemn level 1, you have no follow up and Sona/Ez's combined auto+Q will crush you in a trade. If you take tumble, then you take free harass while Sona/Ez zones you, hits level 2 first, and now have blink+heal. If you try to condemn at this point (assuming you warded lane brush) you'll eat a power chord, Q, blink, auto, mystic shot (all with Sona Q passive), and again lose the trade. Then Sona heals once and is 1 cast away from another power chord. By level 3 you have silver bolts so you have your auto tumble condemn combo, which is I'm guessing when you normally start equalizing in lane in your games. By level 4 Nunu has consume so he can start being a little more aggressive. But if Sona just does those simple things above you'll never arrive here on even farm/health. This is also when Sona positions so that she shouldn't eat a wall condemn when she goes to harass.

I've been playing Ashe a lot lately, and every time I go against Cait (pretty rare as it is recently), I've completely stomped her. She can't really escape even when blowing her net thanks to slows, and since my duo queue is a Nunu, she can't trade me at all. Am I just outplaying most or how is this matchup supposed to go? Ashe is actually supposed to beat caitlyn since the 50 range difference is extremely hard to abuse, caitlyn's Q does minimally more damage than ashe's W but is far harder to hit and as you've mentioned, the slow makes it difficult for caitlyn to escape for free. With a nunu, unless caitlyn's paired with sona or janna, it's very difficult for her to come out ahead enough in trade to beat ashe in lane. Caitlyn's strength is in getting in free autoattacks but that's hard to do against ashe.

Obviously its support dependent, but with a non sustain support like Nunu I'd be even more inclined to Cait. She shouldn't be actively trading you but poking you down.

20 extra AD is nice but after you get your PD you really start to miss the extra crits and crit damage. That's also assuming you don't die which you always would like to assume but rarely can.

Cait nullifies that and bullies her out, in my experience. Obviously its support dependent, but with a non sustain support like Nunu I'd be even more inclined to Cait. She shouldn't be actively trading you but poking you down. Same here, last time I played Ashe I got destroyed by a Caitlyn. Granted, the Sona that supported me wasn't really aggressive (and stood behind me most of the time) while her support Lux at least used her range to force me nearer Cait or into her Qs not to get rooted. I think it's got a lot to do with the fact that I ususally play Sivir or sometimes Ezreal, where despite the short range I can try and burst using aa->spell->aa->spell, but I've got more mobility between Ez's E and Sivir's passive, whereas Ashe has a very low MS and no self-mobility, making the "only 50 range gap" more felt than with, say, Sivir against a standard 550 range ADC. Ashe seems a lot weaker when near her turret too, since the minions will comparatively take more space so her Volley will be more likely to be blocked compared to the Peacemaker that gets harder to dodge. I thought I improved at playing AD but playing Ashe who relies a lot more on plain autos compared to Sivir/Graves/Ez/Corki, and without the burst of, say, Vayne, showed me how many bad habits I had taken, and that Caitlyn utterly abused me with her range and the bottleneck when you get closer to the tower. I still see how Ashe isn't a losing lane and 'outscales' Cait anyway, but playing the match-up it felt like the skills and tricks involved differed from most other AD carries. Regarding BT I like to get it on Sivir when I'm stomping my lane, but that's because it allows me to trade and bully even harder and earlier, and I tend to use the extra AD and her ult to take out outer (and often inner) turrets as fast as I can, to increase the gold gap between the teams and make up for the extra damage of IE against units thanks to crit (which I have no use for when killing towers).

Yes. But iirc, TPA only picked vayne when they were blue side and they tried some mind games with lane switches as well.

TPA beat some crazy shit. Think they had nunu/cog and beat ez/sona too.
