I don't think the gap between NA and KR players is too big. The difference is mostly that NA players are mostly egocentric, its mostly around building reputation/personal brand than team success.

When KR kids like Pobelter start maturing and developing in gaming houses with coaches and directed towards team success, rather than with solo queue dickriders is when NA can no longer compete. Even if LOL starts losing popularity right now in KR, the outcome's on its way, there's more than enough current talent to mentor them.

Speaking of whom, scarra mentioned that Dignitas might consider picking him up if Riot does not pose age restrictions on S3 teams.

I was always under teh impression that Ryze beats Kass. Ryze bullies Kass around really darn hard pre-6. After that, Ryze can get pretty tanky with lots of sustain if he goes Cata/Hextech.

do you really think the casino/law will care? Vegas casinos are 21 and up only. I'm not convinced that they'll bend the law to accommodate Riot.

You are allowed to go anywhere you want in a casino, and can enter a casino in vegas if your under 21, where did you get this idea? I lived in vegas for 8 years all while I was underage, I attended several halo MLG events at casinos, under the age of 18.

Don't stand around near slot machines etc, and he won't have an issue, as long as you don't sit down at a slot machine, and keep walking while on the casino floor, don't stop nearby the machines.

Restaurants, Shopping, Events(including video game events), Shows(that are not age restricted), concerts, etc are all fair game.

Night clubs and strip clubs are obviously different

Unless they put the league of legends computers at slot machine chairs.., 0.o

There are players that are going to be at IPL5 that aren't 21, Pixel is like 16-17 I believe. I'm pretty sure the law accommodates special events. I wouldn't be surprised if they imposed an 18 year old age restriction for legal purposes though.

I am not saying Riot will bend the law, but are we certain this is what the law says? Is it illicit to simply enter such a facility, or is it only if the said person enters with the expectation to gamble?

EDIT: BlueBird verified my conjecture.

Apologies in advance if this has been covered -

I've been away from LoL for a few weeks. My ping went from pretty much always hovering at about 80 to 160. Has this been a problem since this patch (or the previous I guess) or is it something on my end?

This is TL the rise of the Koreans shouldn't surprise anyone. You can compare it to any game featured on this site. NA sc2 players in gaming houses practice hours on end. They still aren't able to compete with the Koreans. The talent pool is greater in Korea with that game as well as in LoL.

The obvious solution for this would be for the foreign teams to relocate to Korea. Fortunately Riot realizes the importance of teams like TSM/CLG that will keep them relevant forever.

I'm not saying they don't scrim, I'm saying they don't do it consistently enough. Hardly scrimming at all for like 80% of the year and then suddenly scrimming alot right before each tournament is not going to produce the same results as consistent scrimming all year.¨

And I don't think it suprises anyone, but we're saying it's not inevitable. It's not due to Koreans being naturally better are games, or even that their culture or infrastructure or whatever is vastly superior. In the end what it comes down to is motivation and commitment of the players.

As for SC2 gaming houses back when I followed SC2 they did the exact same thing lol players are doing now. They set up a house, and then instead of having players actually pracise with each other the players streamed ladder. I don't know if that has changed now and if NA players have wised up, I hope they have. I still feel the situations are very similar. As are the results.

Its difficult to scrim frequently in NA. There are a total of 4 pro teams, Dignitas, Curse, CLG, and TSM. All of the other minor ones that pop up every once in a while, have players that have obligations outside of the game. Organizing consistent scrims with them could be quite challenging. So with the downtime the players are almost forced to solo q to practice their lanes against other top players.

The reason why they have to stream as much as they do is simple. Money, they need to be able to sustain themselves so they are able to have the gaming house. This fits mostly for TSM/CLG. You don't frequently see Scarra or the rest of Dig streaming. He does it every once in a while to keep in touch with the fanbase. Which is a reason why TSM/CLG are so important to LoL. They have a ton of fans. Sc2 was big when it was released and had a ton of foreigners. Then as the Korean dominance showed up the viewer numbers dropped. I'm not saying its tied together, but I do know the most popular GSL nights have a foreigner in them. Personality is a big aspect of what keeps people watching.

I want NA to succeed, I want TSM back on top. People just need to accept and realize there are so many issues of why foreigners fall behind.

Again just stream the scrims. It shouldn't really be a problem to find enough teams to set up say 4 scrims a day, 5 days a week. Even if the scrims wouldn't pull as many viewers as solo queue streaming (which I'm not too sure of. I actually think alot of people would be interested in watching scrims) with 4 scrims a day that would still leave plenty of time to stream solo queue.

What do you guys do when you're in a ranked queue and somebody is being a massive, massive douche.

Like when one guy calls mid say, and another guy is like "I'm mid go fuck yourself" and locks a mid even though you already had one and starts cursing at the team.

I mean, I can't figure out a satisfying thing to do.

Just rearranging the team to placate the douche seems wrong, because you're giving him what he wants and supporting his behavior.

Leaving the queue means a gigantic dodge timer in a ranked game, and also doesn't really punish the douche at all, because he can just requeue even though you can't.

You can report him after the game but the tribunal can't see all the bullshit that goes on in the pregame queue screen, so he's likely not going to get punished there, and even then I don't have faith that these punishments happen very quickly.

The only surefire way to punish this sort of behavior seems to be to let the game start and THEN leave forcing him to lose a 4v5, but then you're going to lose elo AND are liable to get banned for it.

Whenever I am in this situation I cannot think of a satisfying thing to do about it.

Again, this is no excuse when at the beginning of LoL's rise in Korea, there were only 3 major teams, EDG, MiG, and OP, and no minor teams, period.

They still found scrim partners, even if it meant scrimming other regions and taking the ping disadvantage.

In SOME states you can enter at 18+, in many its 21+.

It's regulated by state, not by federal law. Vegas likely has the most lax legislation of anywhere in the nation for obvious reasons.

There has already been an IPL that forced numerous replacements because of the casio venue and age restrictions.

Honestly, if the pregame is really toxic, I just dodge. Not just because its almost a guaranteed loss, but it wont even be a fun game.

I just do homework or something.

That's something that Curse has started to do it seems. As I said the past couple of days they have been streaming scrims, had a decent amount of viewers. Saint was sitting at a little over 7k. This was also with no TSM members streaming.

Oddone and Chaox can easily hit over 22k. I don't think you get close to that if they were to stream scrims. You wouldn't get their personality, advice and thoughts on things. Just the face playing in a serious game. Streaming scrims also seems very counter productive. TSM is currently scrimmaging as I type this, off stream. You practice your tournament strategies most of the time. You grant access to everyone to have a peak into what you are thinking. I guess if they did stream them, this current Dyrus issue wouldn't be an issue.

So if we figure they are streaming for profit, to cover expenses solo q would be the way.As for the hours needed in a day to get a decent amount of scrims, it could be possible. Perhaps Loco could give us some secret information on the practice schedule of CLG.
