I mean, I was pretty sure we'd already thoroughly covered while Yorick's a giant dickbag more than once.
To recap:
Homing missle minions are very obnoxious. Apart from having absolutely no counterplay, they thoughtlessly block(ed) pathing and (still) skillshots.
Huge bursty heals on short CDs on a champ that can quickly fill a Tear and has extremely low mana concerns, 5% damage reduction per ghoul, a haste AND a slow, make it extremely difficult to ever trade with Yorick. If you can't chunk him so hard that he's zoned or dead he will come out ahead.
You can abuse ghouls to freeze waves, to tank the tower while you and your team close the gap for a dive, or later in game just to backdoor without taking a single shot of damage since ghouls mind-numbingly don't die in one hit to a tower.
In team fights its the same shit: skillshots brainlessly blocked by ghouls, oppressive slow slam on your priority targets, huge durability innately and from ideal items (FH = high armor, CDR for even more healing, hasting, slowing, uptime on passive, etc.)
And if dealing with all his shit in lane wasn't enough, then you get to team fighting where you have to put down the AD 2 or 3 times every fight while also being shot briefly by the clone before the AD dies. So here you have a champ doing 600-1000 damage per shot at 2 attacks a second and you kill him, but fuck you he's back still doing 1000 damage a shot and you can't afford to both kill the ghost and kill the other carries tearing your shit in.
What's that? Their AD has a GA, too? You're fucked. Go cry in a corner.
Even if Yorick does complete shit in lane (which while very hard to pull off is amusingly possible in solo queue), that ult just magnifies the shit out of their AD in a way that's EXTREMELY difficult to counter.
Especially, you know, when they pick the dickhead AD champs with giant get out of jail free cards so you can't stick to them in the first place.

That's probably the first time I've seen someone refer to a targeted long-range root+gap closer and a knockup as "whoop-de-do".
|
maokai is about utility. he has easily one of the best mid ganks of any jungler, especially pre-6 (make sure to ban morg). decent clear speed. good initiation. extremely underrated ult imo, because you can't see damage mitigation numbers.
100 armor/mr = +50 200 armor/mr = +100
you're not going to carry, and if you buy stuff like oracles, boots of mobility, and shurelya's, then you die more often... but your team fights turn out a lot better
|
His mid ganks are pretty overstated. The lane is so small that the normal place people are pushed allows them to run from you then flash into tower when you try to W which forces you to flash out or die.
|
You could also maokai's ganking ability the other way. Every jungler has difficulty ganking vlad for instance because of troll pool but maokai can gank vlad since his W roots regardless of whether it does damage or not, freezing vlad in place.
He's also by far and away the best jungler against any AoE reliant AP/ADs in teamfights like kennen/vlad/graves since a well placed ultimate will reduce the AoE damage on 3+ people by 20% which is a massive amount.
I'll agree on the point that he doesn't do much damage since that is 100% true but in a teamfight, the 20% reduction in damage on 3-4 people that can generally happen more than makes up for that. Between the root and knockup+slow, maokai is extremely tanky and disruptive in a teamfight and the fact that he's an excellent person to build teamfight items like frozen heart, randuins, aegis only accentuates the fact that he's rather poor at 2v2/3v3 situations.

The argument of "X doesn't do enough damage in a teamfight" is a pretty weak one anyway, because there's generally not a need for a team to have 3+ primary damage points. A balanced team-comp can work with only two major damage points (AP for magic damage, AD for physical); hell the whole concept of 4-protects-1 functions because if you put enough effort into securing the development of certain carries, they provide enough late-game damage on their own.
Obviously having high teamfight damage output on a jungler carries its own advantages, but it's hardly a liability if you don't. Again, it just affects how you draft the hero.
If you're going to pick a jungler that you expect to do damage lategame, you pretty much also have to pick a top laner or mid who can afford to cede farm to them past the midgame. There's simply not enough farm on the map for you to have 4 damage-dealers on a team and expect to be able to balance out all their development optimally (multiplicative damage scaling favors centralizing damage on fewer damage points). If you can't make the commitment to giving the jungler that kind of farm, a jungler that "scales well" is pretty much a meaningless benefit because they won't be able to get the itemization to do that kind of damage anyway. At that point they're better off just buying team items that advance your team's overall teamfighting potential as a whole.

Ironically Jarvan is actually one of the strongest gankers against a number of traditionally ungankable lanes (don't give a shit bout your pool or Morg shield), but he's so weak to magic heavy teams as a jungler that you often can't run him against the very champs you want to dunk.

I don't know why people are complaining about Yorick or Nunu when there's a perfectly good Jayce to hate on. That guy's just a douche. Hits you away if you try to trade, run away with speed boost, harass at range, etc. Hate that guy so much. JAYCE IS AN ASSHOLE. Hate speech over
|
It's cause I have a ban for Jayce. I don't have an extra ban for the other 8 dickhole champs I'd like to erase.
|
I hate Jayce because every time I look at his mana bar I think he's oom and it's safe to trade but then I realize his spells costs 40 mana. I swear it seems like most new released heroes have redic low mana costs for some odd reason.

Holiday movement speed quints work now.

Honestly, don't think Jayce is known to be sleeper op yet. At least not at all levels of play anyway.
