I would think it's probably concept, because at lower levels(where dozens of kills occur before 10 min), this champion could be hilariously overpowered. At the same time at higher elo's, the kills can still be in the single digits by 20 minutes and this champion would look like shit.

I run AD, i've seen some guides by Chaox i think it was mixing armorpen/ad though. dont think it really matters much either way(armpen better for champions ad better for last hitting blah blah) IIRC, chaox runs a minimum of +10 AD on all champions except urgot. How much over that I believe depends on if he wants to run any MS quints.

Also, saying protect the Kog doesn't work any more because of Soraka ULT nerf and because Lulu got toned down a tad is just hilarious. Protect the Kog existed back when people were building shit like Manamune and MBR on him, and it will keep existing.

But I'm pretty sure pushing towers and trying to play off that early game advantage isn't anything especially groundbreaking. you know what apparently is groundbreaking for LoL teams time and time again? The fact that the team with a PLAN is the one that dominates. M5 had their jungle invade half-plan which worked out really well. Now blaze shows up with this fully fleshed out gameplan and boom they crush everyone. Maybe it's just the way this whole event got covered-- I'll be the first to admit I don't pay real close attention to tournaments most of the time. But it seems like the most we ever get out of US/EU teams is 'oh CLG's going for a poke comp' and then they pick heroes that can poke and they play the game and poke at the other guys when appropriate and nothing's really all that different. Or maybe one team picks a nonstandard champ top, or they do some kind of protect-the-kog (which is the best), or whatever, but it's always just a game *theme* instead of an actual, concrete *plan* that they've obviously practiced. in short I wish western pro LoL teams would get their shit together already, I don't want another esport 100% dominated by koreans ![]()

Protect the Kog existed back when people were building shit like Manamune and MBR on him, and it will keep existing. That has to be an insanly long time ago after the "recent" kogmaw buffs (like 1 year ago) everyone in europe build IE/PD which ended up being the by far superior item build. I have to agree though that "protect the kogmaw" still works esp cause you didnt play soraka that often with him (dont know much about lulu tbh) one weakness supports midlane are quite nerfed and not that easy playable anymore (all got nerfed quite hard)

First we had the mass aoe teamfight with amumu/morg/galio and those guys dominating. Then we had the 3 carry setup, which is still somewhat prevalent but top has shifted from being a third carry to generally playing more a support/tanky role (unless you're running double AP and you still see hyper carry tops like Jax/Riven but not as much). After that gank comps was pretty common with TF/Nocturne or M5's variation with super mobile, tanky champs exerting extreme map control. Then resurgence of Shen brings splitpush comps. And throughout all this you had 4 protect 1 ricing comps with Dig's famous Lulu/Soraka shit then CLG.eu's turtle Anivia strat. And now we have the Korean's new meta which focuses on taking down towers fast to establish map control, which is pretty much where DotA metagame is right now. Ofc, there's a lot of variations and different strats are played regardless of which strat is the "most new," but I find it interesting how closely LoL metagame mirrors that of DotA. Probably not very surprising though given how the games do share similarities in the fundamental aspects of the game. I just tried tanky Diana and I must say I'm almost convinced it's superior to AP Diana. You still do decent amounts of damage with minimal AP. With tanky items and cdr you're super disruptive with E and can chase squishies out of fights pretty easily.

Honestly, so long as teams like CLG.EU exist, I don't know if aggressive/push comps will exist. They're willing to play for lategame and just stall out forever, forcing you to make a mistake.

Rageblade seems like an odd choice, she's more of a nuker than an autoattacker from what I've seen. Boots+3 -> dring- > kages -> sorcs -> DFG -> Lich Bane, Zhonyas, Abyssals is what I've heard is a good build for jungle Love that she's actually a AP jungler that builds AP and not tanky

Wasn't even my point, you're obviously right - it's a horrible build nowadays, and it has been for a while. I was just trying to put across that protect the Kog has been around for a loooooooong, long time. And about the meta talk, I'm not even saying I like or dislike the way this game is currently played, I just think it's odd that every little trend is treated as if everyone would instantly pick this sort of play up. It's not meta game if it's not done by the vast majority of the professional scene, or am I missing something?
