So, if you've been following the GD thread you may have already seen this but I've been working on a little tool for LoL players.
Right now it lets you alter the recommended item sets for champions (now with the game icons for items and champions) and set up custom per-champion hotkey sets (handy for setting smart cast to only some abilities on a per-champion basis).
Feel free to post in this thread if you find any bugs/quirks or have any suggestions for improvements or future features (or just to say that you like it).
You can find it at http://www.loltool.net.
Also, please spread the word. I don't really use any other LoL forums so if you do, feel free to let others know about it.

I will never forget to set rumble's ult to not-smartcast again! :D
|
I know that I already told you to open your own thread but... if you want exposure reddit is always a great place. =P
Edit: Have you checked with Riot/our resident wrenchies yet what their stance on this is?
|
|
oooh, I remember this from the general forums a few days ago, thanks for bumping it! Dling it now :D
Ok, one question. What happens if I leave "use item 1" blank? Does it still overwrite LoL, meaning that it is now unbound, or is still bound to the original key, 1?

Any key that you leave unbound will stay whatever the default is (so leaving "Use Item 1" blank will retain 1 as the key for this). However, the tool doesn't do any checking for duplicates right now so setting something to a key that is already bound (either a default or in the LoL Tool hotkey editor) may result in strange behaviour. In fact typing this just made me realize I should probably be checking that when the user sets a hotkey that they haven't set the same key to a different action already.
Couple of notes on the recommended item editor: * Viktor's augments are missing at the moment. It's a bit annoying since he's the only one with special items but I will fix this in a future release. * For now you cannot set items for Dominion games, however this too will be added sometime soon.

Updated for patch 1.0.0.144. The old version will no longer work.
|
New version is up. It will now alert you when a new version is available (will add option to turn this off soon), and it should now keep working properly after a new LoL patch goes up (three patches in quick succession have taught me not to rely on manually updating the locations of the LoL files).
|
I love this, and use it. If I could offer one suggestion i'd change the three items in the list (The Black Cleaver, The Bloodthirster, The Brutalizer) into the B's on the alphabetical lists. Thanks for the app!
|
This is really cool :o gonna test it out.

Noted and will be changed on the next version. Thanks for the feedback.

Where are the files for the LoL tool saved? I uninstall the game a lot when I feel like I'm playing too much and it wipes my changes. In the future I'll just delete the executables. So never mind.

New version (0.1.0.6 Beta) is out now. Lots of changes and bug fixes. * Support for Viktor Augments. * Support for Dominion and Proving Grounds (ARAM) item sets. * New simple hot key editor makes it super easy to set abilities to smart and/or self cast on Q/W/E/R/D/F. * Currently selected hot key set is shown with a check mark in the menu. * Option to start LoL Tool at Windows boot. * Option to turn off checking for updates on start. * Option to ping Riot servers and report ping (shown on the LoLTool tray icon tooltip). Helpful for those with inconsistent Internet connections to see if they are going to be lagging or not.
Also all the items starting with "The" (such as "The Brutalizer") are now sorted properly without the "The" as suggested by Atokad.
As per usual please look out for any bugs and report them to me so that I can get them fixed. And of course recommend it to all of your friends if you like it

might wanna get this checked out by riot first. they might be like oh this gives you an advantage or smth like that :/
|
This tool is perfectly fine and provides no additional in-game advantage. Changing recommended items is allowed by Riot, this just makes it easier than manually editing text files. Changing keybindings is something you can do in game.
|
He still might want to let riot see it. It might result in free advertising so more people use the product.
|
Riot even promoted a tool that automatically timed jungle creeps in their forum, so why would they be against this.
|
Everything that the tool does is done using ways officially blessed by Riot, it just means you don't have to edit files yourself. Riot also seem to understand that creating a healthy ecosystem of 3rd party content (websites/apps/videos/etc...) will benefit them by creating overall greater exposure for their game.
I wouldn't implement something like automatic jungle timers without talking to Riot first though, as that is close enough to cheating to possibly present a problem (though it still is somewhat grey-area, unlike for example map-hacking, which is blatant cheating and I would never even consider adding to LoL Tool).
|
Personally, I think this is a great tool for people to easily make custom item sets in the preset window. I don't use it personally, but I've referred this to many of my friends who are newer players! :D
|
Latest patch broke the tool again but a fixed version is up. I was sure that I had decoded the last_versions file correctly but with the latest patch none of the numbers in it match the air_client version at all anymore, leaving me a little confused. My new technique for finding the correct folder should hold up for a while though.

I'd love to use your program but the fact that it is not open source means that it can possibly not be safe. If you want it to get more popular, I suggest you make it open source so that paranoid people like me can make sure it is clean. Otherwise, there is the popular alternative of http://enigmablade.net/lol-item-changer/ for changing recommended items. No jungle timer though.
|
Just to let everyone know I've put up a new version of LoL Tool. Now with a proper installer that should check if you have .NET installed and install it if you don't, and an auto-patcher so from now on you can stay up to date without having to go to the website and re-downloading everytime there's a new version. Oh and Syndra has been added to the hotkey/recommended items editors.
Next step will be decoding the LoL database files for the game information making my life easier and enabling additional information displayed in LoL Tool (for example the item descriptions).

Nice app, thank you for taking the time to make it. I have just a few gripes though.
Would like to be able to add mouse buttons to the hotkeys section.
Would like a general interface to select which tool to use instead of the item builder coming up everytime you open it, then having to right click on the icon in the task tray to select a different tool.
Would like to be able to uninstall if from the start menu or at the very least add/remove programs. It doesnt even show up on the list. Was a slight in convenience to remove it.

This didn't work for me for some reasno.

Any time I use the smartcast features on toggles and some abilities it fucks me hard. Can't keep frost shot, defile on and auto-casting every single Lee Sin ability is useless

Hey, I'd like to use you tool. Sadly I can't make it work for me. Downloaded the file from the website, installed (with adminrights), started with (admin rights). LoLTool-icon appears at the windows bar in the bottom right. But the moment I hover my mouse over it it suddenly disappears. With League opened and without. I tried to install .Net Framework manually and still have the same problem. It doesnt show as an active process either.
Windows 7, 64 Bit
Maybe I'm dumb and missing something obvious. But it worked for a friend w/o a problem.
edit: there is no errormessage, either

Oh boy, haven't been keeping an eye out for this thread lately since I thought it had been buried too deep anyway. Best way to contact me if you have any issues is to send me an email, that way I'll be guaranteed to see it (either bugs@loltool.net or sebastian@loltool.net will work).

Mouse buttons is a good point, I'll look into adding those as options in the hotkey editor. You can select which panel comes up when you double click the tray icon in the options now, I'm guessing your post was from before I added this. I'll also look into adding an uninstaller at some point soon.

edit: there is no errormessage, either You shouldn't need admin rights to run it unless you also need admin rights to run LoL (e.g. if you installed LoL into your Program Files directory). Sounds like it is crashing right away though, which is strange. Are you using the English client or a foreign language one? Have you tried re-downloading the installer and running it again? There was a dependency on a Visual C++ redistributable that was added a little while ago that might be the cause (in which case downloading the new installer and running it should fix it). If you read this post and are still having problems please email me and maybe we can figure it out.

Hey, Sorry for the late reply at my part. I just tried LoLTool out again and it seems to work now. I deleted all its old files and installed it again, making absolutely sure to use admin rights, and it works now. No idea what went wrong the last time but my guess is that I installed it without admin rights the first time. It didnt work so I tried it again with admin rights but without deleting the files before. So everything good now. tyvm, Tim
