As it is they just shrug off Volleys with GB/B like it is nothing. In some clever team comps and with great coordination it might work though. Volley + APen is deadly for squishies.

Seems like it depends on my AD. If my AD player is really aggro then we have a greatly successful lane. If I play with an overly passive AD then I just don't know what to do to help them. Any advice? I've been grinding out some support games recently to really try to improve my game in that role. What's been sorta working for me is to try and always be a little forward in the lane, in front of the AD, baiting trades from the AD so that my AD can CS and can trade with their AD without taking hits. Seems successful so far, but I'm just looking for anything that people find useful when figuring out how to handle the 2v2 laning phase as a support when you have no idea how talented your AD is.

She lacks the sustained damage to truly carry (e.g. Cass), the map presence to consistently snowball sidelanes (e.g. TF and Kass) or the scary 100-0 burst to turn a 5v5 into a 5v4 (e.g. Annie, Veigar). That is, having solo farm doesn't make her hugely better. Her strength is her teamfight utility and given her huge range, she should be able to do that very well as a support too.

I generally play the more sustain-ish supports like Janna/Soraka/etc instead of the more kill-lane supports like Leona/Blitz. I feel like during ganks I know what to do, during team fights I know what to do, counter-engaging I know what to do. But I just don't know what to do in lane. Seems like if I try to auto-attack on someone like Janna, then I open myself up to a trade from the AD that isn't worth it. If I try to use skills it has some effect but overall if I'm playing another sustain champ it's pretty useless. Seems like it depends on my AD. It really depends on the lane match-up as well as the jungle champs. Botlane is generally 2v2 and the first thing to do is recognise it as such. There is no single way to play any support because its all situational. Generally, you should think about how you can play such that your AD will carry, whether it is to sustain your AD and position and ward defensively to allow your AD to freefarm, or to play aggressively and threaten kills or beneficial trades at the expense of your carry getting every single CS. You have to be aware of champ scaling, power curves of the botlane champs, while keeping in mind the possibility of jungle pressure and/or being able to waste a jungler's time. But generally speaking you should have wards in river and tri as well as some form of brush control or vision to give that buffer to your AD to at least farm. Pinks are very useful in denying vision to the opposing team and allow jungle input. You should almost always have the survivability of your AD carry as your first priority, and skill accordingly, and generally save important skills to prevent the other team from diving your AD (e.g. Janna's Howling Gale, Alistar's Pulverise) unless a good opportunity arises to use them aggressively.

I don't know why the hate on lux is so great, she's not THAT bad. Laser doesn't consistently win sidelanes in the way a Kass or TF does. If you look through the last couple pages, you'd see that I think Lux is underappreciated - as a support. Btw, what's the video about? I'm in China at the moment and can't watch YouTube ![]()

I'm in China at the moment and can't watch YouTube ![]() It's about a new Xerath skin, basically they're turning him into Brand. About Lux, I think it was Smash who talked about a guy who was 2k+, mained Lux, had something ridiculous like 12-3-7 as KDA and still only won about 50% of his games with her. I think that says a lot about her carrying capabilities, assuming a 2k player capable of achieving those stats would also know how to end games.
