CG's played in a lot of Chinese tournaments so maybe they'll try to qualify through both? Probably not though since it'll be like the Jatt-WCG thing all over again.

"Surrender Vote Failed" message no longer appears to the enemy team
Riot cutting down all the fun.

I always thought it would be nice if disconnects only showed up for allies. Your still down a player but at least the other team doesn't know it's a 4v5 immediately.

The staples center is massive...
Would we really get 20k people to promote LoL? I'm not so sure.

I had a Kat go afk under her tower at lvl1 the other day. The enemy mid let us know in all chat before she dc'd. We some how managed to win that game too. I think it had something to do with our Yorick making it a 5v5 in team fights.

why cant other people invite now?

i don't know how practical it would be, but ideally, wouldn't an adequate solution for spectating a friend's game would be to spectate it real time, but only from the friend's team's perspective? i feel like it's not that much fun to watch a friend's game and be like oh shoot. this and that happened. when the friend who's playing it is 3 minutes ahead of the action and subsequently is trying to focus on what's currently happening for him. and plus if i'm spectating a friend's game, i feel like i'd be watching the game because of my friend rather than what's actually happening in an overall game perspective. it would also prevent cheating because you only know what your friend knows, and so it'd be no different than having your friend look at your game over your shoulder.

Ya but the extra set of eyes would still be a huge advantage. Delay is absolutely necessary

3minute seems freaking excessive. Maybe 30sec-1min seems more reasonable.

My Favorite Questions
Do you see competition as a positive or negative in the eSports scene? Does say, the popularity of professional Starcraft help you by increasing interest in eSports as a whole, or do you hurt each other by competing for the same sponsors?
I don’t think eSports, as a cultural phenomenon, has come anywhere near its potential. In that sense, a rising tide lifts all boats. I think that’s why so many people at Riot are so excited about doing everything we can to foster and support the League of Legends eSports scene – it’s because we know how much of an impact we can have on elevating eSports as a movement.
Leagues which don’t have their own games are highly dependent upon sponsors, but we don’t need to rely upon sponsors to make a commitment to eSports – we’re supporting eSports because our players love it and we’re all about giving the players what they want and recognizing and rewarding their amazing skill.
Where does a $3M prize pool come from? Is it all sponsor-based, or does Riot personally contribute?
The entire prize pool for Season Two is $5 million in total, with $3 million spread across the Regional Finals and World Championship. Because we are deeply committed to eSports, Riot Games is guaranteeing the prize pool for Season Two. However, we’ve had a ton of interest from sponsors who want provide support and get involved with the massive viewership for League of Legends as we move forward. We are looking at integrating sponsors into future events, but we’re in a position to ensure that League of Legends eSports remains well funded.
PCG: 3 million dollars is a lot of money. What makes it possible to keep raising the ante each year with LoL’s world championships? More players, more sponsors, or something else entirely?
Dustin Beck: As a game that was designed with eSports in mind from day one, the League of Legends competitive scene’s been growing alongside the game itself. Players have been sharpening their skills and making it clear that they’re interested in competing, and the community at large has voted with their eyeballs—over two million viewers tuned into each of the last three Challenger circuit events.
That’s the motivation behind our commitment to eSports. The size of the prize pool, features like our enhanced spectator mode, and everything we do for competitive play—it’s all to give the LoL eSports scene the support it deserves. We want it to be entertaining for fans, engaging for players at all levels of competitive play and a lucrative career choice for the best teams around the world.

30-60 seconds is utterly insane. As a jungler I could use that information to counter-jungle, predict ganks, avoid wards etc. It's not a coincidence that 3 minutes is the duration of a ward.

with a less than 1:30 delay you could know they planned to invade before they invaded.
with a less than 4 min delay you can already get an exact timer on baron/dragon if you dont see it die and still have time to position yourself to get it. 3 mins is already striking a balance between 'live' and 0 information being given away. any less would be too risky. it would only take 1 instance of "well we lost because they got free information" and there would be pitchforks about it being too short. theres nothing to gain and everything to lose by making it shorter.

30sec-1min delay is what streamers have set right? if they don't have a huge problem w/ it, I don't see why spec mode should be 3minute delay.
|
Setting your stream to 1min is a choise. You accept that you run the risk of being ghosted. Spec mode doesnt give that choise since anyone can spectate (if there on your friendlist/featured obv).
3min delay is the only way to be sure.

3min delay is the only way to be sure. I dunno, it really removes the fun of messaging to my friend "LOL DAT PLAY"

3 minute delay is definitely the way to go, don't see how anyone could say differently. Especially so since the games are accessible to everyone due to them being integrated into the client, information about ward locations and shit would be a bigger problem than they are with streams. That and it's already pretty rude to the other people on your team to not have a least like a 1 min delay on stream imo, 3 mins is much better since you aren't choosing to be watched and it keeps the playing field level.

You can still do this. Either way you'd have a delay, but without a big one the system is open to exploitation, which isn't worth the fun of being able to watch games in near realtime. More people than just you and your friends are going to be using the system obviously, it has to be a fair fit for everyone.

I don't think we have a thread. I think it'd be awesome to do arranged 5's but it's much harder to organize than duo queue - which is a shame because it seems like there's plenty of people on TL that have an interest in playing together but just don't. It'd probably be easiest to just say something in liquidparty... except no one ever says anything in liquidparty.
maybe just like pick a time every week for TL arranged 5's and whoever can make it can play a few games?
