Thanks for all the info. Will try to keep this in my mind.

Quick questions, do % things stack? i.e. 2x phantom dancers, each has 55% attack speed. Do I get 110%, or do I get something less?

I don't wanna get into a discussion about what "competent" means but jiji has played Kennen in multiple scrims and tournaments with success and failure.

Also, while I'm a jiji fanboy, his ranked stats are pretty impressive. Including champions he usually doesn't run in tournaments like his 4/1 average KD Veigar or 3/1 average KD Xerath. Yeh, it's solo queue but it's 2K Elo solo queue.

Also also, jiji is still the only NA AP carry that can competently play Rumble. Which might not be as important since Rumble usually goes solo top but considering most pro NA players can't Rumble top I figured it was significant.

/jiji fanboyism

Everything else aside, if you talked to any of the pro AP carries I think you'd find that they have pretty diverse champion pools for AP carries. If the conversation is about "competence" I think most AP players can play most of the AP carries. But if it's about like, "what champions can this person go beast mode on," it becomes a really different conversation.

110% on your base attack speed. Also, I typed "attack speed league of legends" into google for you:

Thinking about it I'm pretty sure that high elo NA players don't play Rumble because of TheCptAmerica. Guilt by association and all that.

If by some colossal miracle (mistake) Riot ever takes my advice on shit the first thing I would push for would be for poppy to get remade.

Even if poppy is UP or whatever, I'd hate to see her changed significantly at this point Yeah, she doesn't really fit in standard games, but she's an interesting and potentially very powerful champion! There's a good chance that eventually someone will really figure her out and put her to a good use in a tournament or something like that. I don't think champs that are 'bad' just because they don't fit into the majority of games should be normalized.

this has been said before in GD, but basically, poppy's entire kit consists of her first 3 skills, and riot had a full champion kit put together. They just kinda slapped her ult on at the end, kus all champs had an ult. It would be nice for them to adjust or simply scrap her ult for a new one (IMO) kus as it stands, I find it pretty silly and makes her a pain to deal with. The rest of her kit is cool, the charge especially. It was the first wall-conditional stun (and still one of 2? they havn't made anymore that i can think of besides vayne's) and i suspect it's the same sort of tech that they used for nautilus' q for wall grabbing.

edit: basically where i was going with the end is that I really like her 3 normal skills, and they work together really well for a high-mobility champ, but there's a sort of disconnect with her ult, where it doesn't totally fit with the other 3.

How? She's supposed to be a singletarget assassin, which she does by speeding up with W and then using EQ to burst a target down. The ulti synergizes with that perfectly and is supposedly what lets her just 1v1 the target of her choosing.

A change I could see happening if Poppy becomes overpowered is that during her ulti she could only attack the target she has ultid, but otherwise it makes perfect sense to me.

If you look at everything else, she has short cd next hit attack, gap-closer stun, and 2 defensive steroids, 1 of which doubles as a + AD and MS steroid. Looking at just that, she looks like a pretty standard archetypal bruiser, now you add the ult and it defines her as a singletarget assassin.

There's a large range of how well you can play a champion. Being able to do well with it normal is one thing, solo queue ranked another, and premades/tournaments an entirely different thing. Lots of pros can play champions in ranked and win that they'd do poorly on in a tourny.

W-first Poppy should, in theory, be just about impossible to remove from lane as a near-pure or pure physical source (Tryndamere, Riven come to mind).

IMO nerf her lategame a bit and make her charge into a line AoE damage source.

W first, why? It doesn't even do anything vs trynd, her passive already affects the crits significantly enough, and yes Poppy is a counter to tryndamere

If you're worried about Poppy pick a Wukong, Vladimir, OLAF(impossible lane), Irelia, even Malzahar, Warwick or something like that against her.

I definitely think she's not going to be considered overpowered until......

People start playing her bottom lane with a support so that she actually CAN get absolute freefarm with the combination of her passive and armor stacking.

vs poppy just go ahead and run teemo/twitch. gg.

Nah, when Rumble first came out most of the NA scene considered him bad and literally no one picked him up. CLG started scrimming with EU teams around the first month or so that Rumble was out and the EU players kept telling CLG that Rumble is "the most OP shit ever." Jiji decided to learn Rumble so he could "own the EU players with him" and he got pretty damn good at Rumble in a short time. So much so that I remember wickd while laning against Rumble as Irelia commented that jiji's Rumble is "extremely good."

I think the biggest reason most NA players didn't pick him up was that they considered him bad at first then combine that with the problem that most AP players in NA refuse to top lane (jiji is one of the few who does so often in tournies/scrims) and the fact that a lot of NA top laners prefer bruisers over AP champions. The only other NA players I've ever even seen play Rumble in scrims/tournies are Voyboy (who plays like every top laner) and Pobelter (who prefers APs to bruisers anyway when he top lanes).

oh god haha. my friend just made the funniest play in a 1400 game. he's sitting in mid lane as gragas just not moving waiting for a last hit when the enemy taric randomly runs up and stuns him. he still doesn't move, the taric stuns him again and decides he's afk, runs up to him and shatters and starts wailing on him. then he dfged him and blew all his cooldowns and one shot him haha.

http://eune.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=208 first question
A: All stats from items will stack additively except for those that have a UNIQUE ability. For instance, the Infinity Edge item has the following stats:

+80 DMG
+20% Crit
UNIQUE Passive: Critical hits now deal 250% damage instead of 200%.

If you were to pick up two Infinity Edges, you would have the following stats:

+160 DMG
+40% Crit
UNIQUE Passive: Critical hits now deal 250% damage instead of 200%.

Note that both the damage and critical chance stack additively, but because the passive to the Infinity Edge is UNIQUE, you cannot be affected by that more than once.

If you are new to this game i recommend reading all the stickies in here http://eune.leagueoflegends.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=4

IE now has 25% crit chance^^ but what it's saying is correct.
I skimmed through the stickied threads. Besides the matchmaking one, I think everything is rather dated. For the casual player, one can learn a lot by watching champion spotlights. For the average player colbecheese's summoner academy or other youtube videos. For the people with no life like me... well I don't need to tell you what to do. You probably have a tab to the wiki open right now c;

In my first week of LoL I read through all the item stats. I love game knowledge.

The best thing for players learning champions isnt spotlights, its these:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD70FBB6A6FE7F8BD&feature=plcp

The Don't Feed Spotlights, basically just like a the champ spotlights but about 100x more detailed, he covers all the details of all the skills, as well as gameplay and combos/strategies, the whole series is just fucking awesome.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.
