The thing is, coaches clash with egos. When a single player owns the team or has too big an influence, it takes a coup to get change done (hi Phantomlord).

So obviously the egos will have to go.

Right now we're still at the generation of pubstar players. The only way people get known is by playing solo queue, and teams are basically just a collection of solo queue players, which doesn't necessarily translate into being good team players. People have big egos and suck at working with each other.

Once the first generation of pubstar teams shifts out of their prime, you'll start seeing coaching/managing that will eventually scout players not necessarily based on their individual solo queue performance, but also their potential as team players. Naturally, this has to come from coaches/managers that were themselves good at the game (which we don't have yet).

I agree with this, I'm just saying these players generate more stream views and thus are positively reinforced by today's market, which makes change harder.

i think your supposed to lvl shield first, shield stun q in circles like an idiot win trade.

I was told as Ribbon to max Q first, then when Yorick pushes lane just mash Q to push back so the tower doesn't take your CS.

Morde could probably do well. Never played it though, so IDK. I also hear Trundle beats him.

I'm pretty sure Riven beats him. Her movement isn't based on MS, so the speed/slow shit doesn't do a lot and she trades so fucking well at melee range that I don't think Yorick can get in range to CS without getting the ass end of trades.

I've only played the matchup twice, but Cho seems to dump on Yorick as well. Ghouls end up giving you more hp back from your passive than they hurt you, give you mana back as well, so he goes oom and you don't. He tries to push lane, you blow it up with a scream.

a few pages back listening to the talking about lack of experimentation in pro teams was a good point, but right now I am watching Froggeh+Kreppo playing ap+support bot lane and its pretty cool to see.

Riven has awesome mobility, which destroy ghouls harass.
She can even stun ghouls for free in dire need.

She trades better than him when they clash.
She fights better after lvl6.
She bursts harder.
She scales better.

Riven is the closest you can get to a melee counter to yorick !

The problem Riven has is that once she engages the ghouls inside the creep wave with her abilities and that is where she has to go to cs, she will push the lane. In my experience you just end up under tower. Riven can't engage anymore because of the tower and she can't creep because every time she tries... she eats ghouls. And she can't just sit there and farm because she eats Yoricks q's and they hurt. I'm not talking about the ghoul but the enhanced damage.

Morde has the same problem...

In any case Yorick belongs in the same champion category as Karthus in my opinion (A-class). We all know what the A stands for.

Been lurking this thread at work today, pretty interesting discussion about the LoL/DoTA practice comparisons. I'm not sure if that's the reason I don't enjoy watching streams(other than CLG EU), but these teams seem so undisciplined and ragey that it frustrates me to even watch. It usually turns into a giant ego-fest and everyone points the finger instead of taking the blame.

On a different note, though, I haven't played solo que lately due to helping some friends grind up to 30 and learn the game. Granted it's just normal draft, I've noticed that about 99% of the time I go top, I win lane. I mainly only lose to Yorick because he's a giant asshole. Is there some way I could somewhat talk my team into letting me top in solo Q games? It seems like it's the role everyone wants(besides mid), and everyone seems to lose. I've been polishing my other lanes just incase, but I'd prefer to play the lane I'm incredibly confident in. Any tips on this or am I just going to have to dealwithit.jpg?

TLDR: Going to start playing Solo Que for real, always win my lane if I'm top but everyone wants to play it, can play every other role well but I'm most confident in top. Advice?

At higher ELO you can generally claim it more often. It is a very sought after lane, though. If you're reasonable and you ask for it, claim you have many champions and you offer to 'counterpick' then you should be able to get it about 50% of the time if not more.

It's really rare that people actually win a vast majority of their lanes, though. Even in games where the score is 40-3 it seems like it's everyone else's fault.

Thank you for the prompt response. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I actually do dominate top lane pretty badly a majority of the time. I'm not sure if it's my agressive playstyle or my experience playing a solo lane in HoN, but the other person tends to overextend or be zoned out. I definitely have a bad day once in a while, but generally speaking I'm pretty confident in my ability at top, at least for my ELO bracket.

However, if you're talking about the OTHER lanes in the game losing their lane, I can definitely relate to that. Yesterday I had an Ashe/Maokai premade who insisted they were raping lane when he had half the CS of Vayne and were both 0-2. Needless to say, we lost once they figured out they just had to focus me down right away. Any tips for dealing with that? I read Mogwai's blog the other day(which is great, btw), and he mentioned something about how when he plays great but his team shits it up, he just focuses on what he could have done better individually and moves on to the next. I've been adopting this mentality, but at the same time I still get pretty frustrated after playing a 70 minute game, doing awesome, but having someone on my team throw the game because they were impatient or an asshole or whatever. Not really sure what I can do better there

If you dominate your top lane all the time then you're pretty bad at the other lanes, otherwise your Elo would increase. Either take the opportunity to learn the other lanes now or tell your team that you suck at the other lanes.

As for not letting anyone get caught out, the only ways to decrease this from happening is to call everyone to group, try to lead on initiates if you are the initiator and ward a lot if you are support.

You can move on. And that is about it. In case you get really upset... just do something relaxing and return once your not on tilt anymore.

#1 way to play solo q-

Step 1: Hit an elo that you can play whatever you want at and stay at 50% win rate.

Step 2: Play whatever the hell you want.

#1 way to play solo q-

Step 1: Hit an elo that you can play whatever you want at and stay at 50% win rate.

Step 2: Play whatever the hell you want.

Step +: Fk ranked queue and just play, if someone is being douche /ignore

Oh see, I dont ignore people. I LOVE watching people rage. Its like literally one of my favorite parts of solo q.

I try to do my best to poke and prod said ragers to induce more, without getting reported/banned myself. It's a delicate balance, being a sympathetic figure to those who aren't raging, while simultaneously enticing more fuuuuuuu out of those who are.
How did the experience of working at Mr Burns' Nuclear Plant influence Homer's composition of the Iliad and Odyssey?
